Grimey hotel near Boston

Sticky, dirty, ripped carpeting in this room made for an unpleasant first Impression. Cigarette butts in stairwell, well ...

Comfortable

The hotel is conveniently located to where I work. It is very nice to have a kitchen and be able to cook. Did miss having a hair dryer in my room though.

Inexpensive, but not a value.

The lobby is poorly marked with no indicative signage outside the building, which caused me to circle the building before finding the front desk. The entrance/exit to the adjacent Centre Street was blocked making Route 1 the only way in and out of the property. Since my business was north of the hotel, I had to drive southbound and loop back northbound every time I left the hotel. This could have been easily remedied by allowing access to Centre Street. The lobby was a mess with boxes and papers and assorted things strewn about behind the front desk. It was definitely the worst-looking lobby I've ever seen. The Desk clerk on duty at check-in was disheveled, confused, disorganized, and generally not very professional. She kept mumbling, leaving and coming back. It took far too long to check in for such a place. The clerk on duty at check-out was much better. He was organized and behaved and dressed professionally and was quite cordial. There always seemed to be some shady character hanging out near the front desk, presumably family or friends of the staff, which made entry and exit into the hotel uncomfortable, especially considering the numerous signs indicating that there has been much crime on the property. The room was mostly clean and was adequate. Amenities are non-existent, but I did not expect more for the location and price, so I won't complain, but I would not stay there again. I ended up checking out early and gladly forfeiting the money paid for the entire stay to avoid spending another night there. I have stayed at other ESA properties and was very satisfied, but overall, this property felt more like a flophouse than a hotel. I would think that the Blackstone Group would be concerned about the repercussions of such a bad example of their brand. I recommend staying at one of the many other properties in the area.

Good value

Clean, comfortable, quiet. Not fancy, but nothing objectionable and a good night's sleep at a very acceptable price. Designed for Extended Stay, but just fine for one night, too.

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

It's on the west (southbound) side of Rte. 1, a semi-limited access route. Easy access from the north, but if approaching from the south, you'll have to overshoot to an exit where you can turn around. (We used Rte. 62.)

nice place

I only used the room or sleeping. I got in the hotel around 11 at night. They did have a water leak, so when I got to the room there was a note saying the water was going to be turn off starting at 10 am. Didn't bother me bacause I was going to be out of the hotel by that time. Room was cold when I got there but warmed right up with the heat. I say over all it was a good stay.

it suit the need

Only stayed at this hotel for one night. It was quiet, but the room didn't seem to be cleaned very well. It was also dark in the rooms..not very bright lights and some what dim in the hallways. Vending machines not on all floors. overall, it was fine, probably not worth the charge.

Danvers ESA

We went for Salem MA for Halloween weekend. The only thing was the lack of affordable transportation to Salem. Other than that the room was great and the staff was was friendly. The price was quite affordable.
