Good value
I stayed over the Xmas holiday, visiting family in the area. The room was quiet and comfortable, but average. If you know your way around, the location is pretty good--far more convenient than places on Route 1 or along Route 128.

Danvers now has two decent downtown restaurants. Try Nine Elm.

Basic, not that overpriced
I got a good night's sleep, in a hotel that passed my bedbug check (It has added bedbug covers to mattresses and box springs since my last visit.), and was comfy enough overall. Unlike "competitor" hotels on Route 1, it has a normal-person clientele, not a welfare-agency "clientele." Prices have increased (unjustifiably), but it is still not too bad a gouge by local standards.

45th HS reunion
Husbands class reunion & get together w/people he hadn't seen in long time. Drove to Saugus to see house he grew up in & around his "old stomping grounds". A lot of walking.

Short walk from hotel
@ Comfort Inn Continental breakfast had a variety to choose from. Go early. Also visible from motel is a short walk/drive to Calitri's Italian Restaurant. Food was good & plentiful. Packed on a Friday night.

Decent, not too overpriced
The on-demand media feature on the TV in my room did not work. The toilet tank stuck in the "open" position, flowing endlessly. The bathtub hardly drained. There was no tissue dispenser in the room. Most of the clothes hangers were beat-up and unusable. There was no "do not disturb" placard in the room. Compared to the Route 1 hotels, however, most of which are overrun with welfare-agency clientele, it is at least quasi-decent, and the price isn't too bad, although it has gone up significantly in the past year. At least the patrons are normal people. For someone looking for a decent, basic, affordable lodging, it is still the best deal in the area, sadly.

Good experience
I enjoyed my stay. One thing, though...the air conditioner was making noises that made it difficult to sleep. In general, the staff was very friendly and the uniforms were nice. The breakfast was very good.

Spend your $ somewhere else
First let me say that the check in at this hotel is 4 pm which is really late compared to other hotels i've been to. It was a big issue to check in at 1pm. There were 4 cars in the parking lot but in the whole hotel not 1 room was ready. Seemed kind of fishy, then he told me that our reservation was for a room in the basement! Literally in the basement next to the boiler room. Ok so we get into our room, open the curtains and a huge fly flies out. I trapped the fly inside the garbage bag stuck it in the garbage. The maids never cleaned the beds up or took the garbage because the fly was still in the bag in the can. The free breakfast made both of us sick the first day so we decided not to go back the next. Pros of this hotel are: Close drive to Salem, not a noisy place, cannot hear people upstairs walking around and such. Air conditioner was quiet. Vending machines.

Do not eat hotels breakfast! I recommend Red's Sandwich Shop in Salem. Voted best breakfast in Salem for the last 23 years, and the blueberry pancakes are delish!

One-night stay
Ask for a room on the 2nd floor or above--1st floor is quasi-below ground level. Breakfast was tasty.
