Wonderful winter weekend retreat!

Even in the middle of a blizzard, this hotel offers every comfort. Staff service was exceptional, even chauffering us to town or shuttling us to the main house for meals during the snow and wind. It was wonderful! The room was beautiful and clean, but it needed a more comfortable easy chair with a footrest! And the other two game-table chairs were wooden and nice, but they needed cushions. In the snow, in the cottage with nowhere to go, there was no comfortable seating in the room. That can be easily fixed. Other than that, it was a delightful experience and I would definitely go again! Cape Cod is a wonderful place to visit, any time of year!

In addition to excellent food (we had breakfast) at the Inn, there is a restaurant right in Chatham - The Impudent Oyster - which serves delicious food at a reasonable price.

4-star location, 1-star service

The location and setting were fantastic and the rooms were nice. However, the front desk personnel treated us like second class citizens and were rude and unhelpful. For a 4-star resort, one should at least expect polite staff. We won't be back.

Great Family Getaway on Cape Cod

A beautiful property with a view of the sea, Chatham Bars Inn is a slice of times gone by. Not ostentatious, CBI makes its mark with very friendly services and amenities not found elsewhere. On our first night, we were awakened by an electronic alarm at 3 am. We thought it was something of ours but a half hour search proved fruitless. We phoned the desk and a maintenance man came and shut off the alarm, which was sprinkler related. We were treated the next day to a lovely breakfast in the elegant dining room and we moved to a different room in another cottage. The concierge is a wealth of local information. We enjoyed visiting the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, watching whales offshore from Race Point in Provincetown, and taking a long beach walk near the Chatham Light.

Deluxe Cottage Room - February weekend

Great location. Perfect for golfers and females who love spa. The weather wasn't bad for February. The place is pricey but we stayed within our budget. The room was perfect for a couple. We tried their in room service and the tavern; the food was great. The staff was wonderfull.

beautiful hotel

We loved this property. The location was absolutely gorgeous on the ocean. Views are incredible. The pool is excellent and beach wonderful. Free boat to a stunning deserted island was one of our favorite experiences of our trip to Cape Cod. Only issue was the room was pretty small for 4. Also, the lobster boating trip was a rip off at 40$ per person. We didn't see any lobsters! We ate at their tavern restaurant and found the food to be mediocre but very expensive. There are so many awesome restaurants in Catham just a few minutes away. We will return to this special hotel.

Location, Location, Location

Once at this hotel just park the car and relax. The location and view from our room Blue Mist was perfect. The concierge was terrific with making suggestions during our stay. Bridge Tournament was there and had bumped our dinner reservations but they upgraded our room instead. Very nice - friendly staff. Service and food in the Tavern were slow. In fact it took five minutes for someone to acknowledge us twice! The room was decorated Cape like but not too Nautical which was a plus. Understated elegance. Nature walk with Eric was great. South lounge a nice place to people watch and read. The gas fireplace in room was terrific in the evening. Would love to go back in the summer to enjoy the pool. It looked wonderful. Food in the Tavern was average but not great for the cost. Have heard the Sunday brunch is great -- but once again Bridge Tournament going on. Nice outdoor seating area outside our room which was wonderful. Lots of seating located indoor and out. Loved the Village of Chatham it had everything you needed from lovely shopping to restaurants and entertainment. Can not wait to go back!

Get out and walk the beaches. Chatham Pier a short distance and it is a nice walk to the lighthouse and the Village. For those who have difficulty walking they offer a shuttle service to town. [...] the driver was terrific.

Wonderful!

This was our second stay at the Chatham Bars Inn. First time we stayed in one of the cottages. This time we were in the main hotel. Both were really nice in their own way. Really a top-notch hotel and dinner in the main dining room was fabulous--delicious and presented beautifully.

Dining tip: In Hotel

We had an elegant dinner in the hotel's main dining room which has sweeping ocean views. Both the food and ambience were equisite. We also had drinks in the Tavern which had a lively, cozy atmosphere and although we didn't eat there, many guests did--more, in fact, than there were in the main dining room so the food must have been good!

first time visitor

the hotel was wonderful and our room was in one of the cottages on the premises. the rooms are decorated in cape/beach fashion and pretty spacious. it's a bit of a walk (and quiet a few stairs) to get to the beach, so if you don't mind the walk (and we didn't) it's well worth it. the hotel runs a free boat ride to a near by sandbar/island - if your looking for a little more privacy - it's a wonderful place to spend the day with your feet buried in the sand while you watch the seals sun themselves. the staff was friendly, but not so helpful. parking is also pretty limited on premises. the big downside - make sure to ask if there is a wedding going on the week/weekend you plan to be there. they allow weddings to rent out the dinning rooms and most of the hotel common space, which really limits the options for the non-wedding guests.
