Great location if going to Harvard.

If you are visiting Harvard this is the best hotel to stay (also look for the Veritas Hotel). It is located right next to the JFK School of Government, 5 minutes from Harvard Business School and a 3 minute walk from the main Harvard college campus. My wife and I visited the JFK School of Government and were delighted to find that the hotel is right next to the school. We stayed there in the first week of classes for Harvard Students so there were a lot of events in the hotel for students and faculty. It got a bit noisy at night but nothing to worry about if you are in your room. Anyways, highly recommended even if you are not visiting Harvard. Everything is very near and the T-Stop is 5 minutes away walking distance. On the negative, it is a bit on the expensive side but most of the hotels in Boston are quite expensive.

Not what I expected

I've always wanted to stay at this hotel so when I finally splurged and spent more money than I ever have on a hotel room, my expectations were high. The room was very average in size and decor, clean but the carpet had a few stains, ultra comfortable bed, free wifi, tv in the bathroom mirror (not sure that's a needed luxury) and other standard amenities. It took 2 calls and over an hour to get complimentary ice delivered. All other interactions with service were brief, polite and perfunctory. You're paying for location here.

Liked hotel location, teenagers can easily walk around Harvard Square, lots of dining and shopping options. Rooms are a bit small but clean and nicely appointed.

Overpriced in a perfect location

We had a nice time but the double beds were very uncomfortable. The average couples do not sleep in a double bed at home and being forced to sleep in one while on vacation is in no way relaxing! An overpriced hotel like the Charles Hotel should offer queen beds.
