Great value for price

Stayed in a room with two queen beds with a family of four for a week during a college visit tour. Nothing to complain about even though space is tight with four persons in a room. The only critique is that there is not enough storage room for clothes for so many people. Breakfast is free and good, Wifi works well and you are next door to the T, so getting anywhere is not a problem at all. Shopping Mall is in walking distance. Staff is friendly and evrything is clean and well maintained! Great value for price! We would come back if needed.

Good location

I really enjoyed the location of this and access to the T. It was nice to be so close to it bc I didn't have a car. Breakfast was good but a lot of the staff throughout were not very friendly and helpful. Room was always clean.

Nice stay for business travel

Parking and check-in were easy. The complimentary breakfast was just OK, although the eggs tasted a little funny. The room itself was nice. I like Hampton Inns for the relatively soft bed (although as usual I couldn't sleep the first night - I never do unfortunately).

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Worth using Yelp to find highly rated, but small restaurants nearby within walking distance. Parking isn't really an option as these are neighborhood joints with extremely few parking spaces.

Great price given the location

The hotel was less expense than some of the other hotels in the area. However, the amenities were more than adequate (free breakfast included) and it is very conveniently located across the street from the green line of the Boston T. I would recommend it.

good location nearby Harvard University for driver guest.

For driver guest to Cambridge ,it is good location. From here to Harvard University only 10minutes driving and parking is free.Room is comfortable,if the air conditioner could be less noisy,it'll be great. That's why I only give rate 3 at some items.

Great place across the river from Boston

Four of us stayed here for a couple days to catch our team play the Bruins and to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. It was a consistent $9.80 cab fare to Quincy Market. (The train was $2.50/person one-way). If it was nicer, we could have easily walked. The Staff was very kind to us and eager to help with any questions we had about food, directions, attractions, you name it. Simple "Good Morning's" & "How are you's" go a long way. It seemed as if we were staying in Boston without paying the higher price. We know where we'll be staying on our next trip to Boston.

Would not recommend

My family has been staying at Hampton Inns for a few years now. Have enjoyed our stay at the North Conway NH, Portland ME and Manchester NH locations however I will NEVER stay at the Boston/Cambridge location ever again. It was an older building very outdated, the thermostat cover fell off and all contents were exposed, the cover to the ice machine was falling off as I was getting ice, the soda machine wouldnt give change, our room was not very clean, there was a receipt on the floor from previous guests, there was a comb at the end of the bed on the floor, there was no refrigerator or microwave or pool that has always been at all other locations. The breakfast area was very crowded with a strange set up, Housekeeping had doors open to rooms while the guests weren't even in the room. Anyone could have walked in. We had two rooms and they walked right into one room to 'add wash cloths'. I did not feel safe leaving our room to do anything. The people at the front desk with the exception of one gentleman was horribly rude. We unfortunately did not realize this location did not have a pool. We have 3 younger children who love to swim so this was a big disadvantage to not be able to swim during our down time. We asked the front desk if they could tell us 'things to do' in the area and they were very little to no help.. We are from Maine so were not familiar with the area. They had a few suggestions: The Aquarium which we had already done prior to checking in, the Science Museum which was closing in an hour and one other suggestion that was not fit for smaller children but I wanted more information about it for the adults. The lady at the front desk was useless, she rolled her eyes and made us feel like we put her out by us asking.. She then asked a gentleman to help us because she had 'to go out back' this next guy I assume is the one in charge and he was very cut dry and as well useless. He was doing another task so could have cared less to help. Then the one gentleman that was helpful at check in came out and we were directed to talk to him. He did give us info and helped. On top of all of this as a possibility we asked if we could change locations because sitting in the hotel for hours on end nor walking the streets at night with very young children were not an option for all of us. The answer was a quick NO by the people at the front desk. We called the Revere location and was told that if we were unhappy we should be able to be refunded and relocate. After being on the phone for well over a half hour with managers etc who we kept being directed to, the answer was still NO because A. we booked online with the book/pay advance. (Which I will NEVER do ever again, the only reason we did was because we had frequently stayed at locations and they gave us a little deal) and B. because they are independently owned and its up to each individual location to make these decisions. They had no other options for us. It was very disappointing and a long night for some of us. I understand if we 'agreed' with the book/pay advance your not 'supposed' to be able to make changes. However, what bothered my family the most was the unnecessary rude and unprofessional service we received. I would not recommend this location to anyone especially families with young children. The revere location is very close by and they do have a pool and from what I experienced much better customer service. Long review however necessary!

Just what was needed

Everything was sold out in Boston and we lucked out getting our room at the Hampton. It turned out to be perfect. Parking was included, breakfast and wifi included. Those things make a difference. and the location was perfect. Access to the T across the street meant not needing the car. And a great in town Mall a 5 minute walk away plus a boat tour of the Charles. Wish we had more time to have stayed longer.

repeat stay

Liked it the first time. Went back. Liked it again. Parking available making the location very convenient if you have a car. Otherwise, they will call for a cab that comes pretty quickly to get you where you need to go.
