smoke filled flop house

this place is a pit! we booked a room for three nights to see our gravely ill daughter in boston. We booked a no smoking room. We were treated rudely throughout the stay by John..the nite desk person (think that was his name). Firstly..the entire place reeks of smoke from smokers. Aweful smell everywhere..the lobby, all floors,..everywhere. And this is not new...this smell is embedded in everything and everywhere. Secondly, the non-smoking room we were given reeked of smoke. We walked in and found the windows wide open..like they were trying to air it out. It was a certainty that the previous occupant had smoked for his entire stay as it smelled everywhere. No one would do a thing about it. The ac unit..either blows full on freezing cold air, or nothing. no matter what we did with the thermostat, we froze and were awakened every time the unit came on. It blowed like a freezing hurricane. No one would do a thing about it. Thirdly: the iron in the room was a danger. my wife filled it up and went to use it and nearly was shocked to death. I had to run at her and knock her from the circuit. The water tank was cracked, the control knob was broken, and upon looking at it, there were bare contacts showing near the control knob. Not only did they NOT apologize, John was so lazy that he could not even go to another room and get us a working iron. Never stay here or at any Candlewood again as this one seemed to be an over-glorified boarding house or residence apartment complex for long staying residence. They don't care about the short term customers. Heck, there were three cars out in the parking lot alone that were stranded there and unable to run...abandoned. This is a flop house..not a hotel..and the staff..well..could care less.

Absoutely Horrible

On the 1st night the alarm went off at 3:00 a.m. There was no paging system to alert guest to leave. Once it went off and after we had walked 4 flight of stairs each way, the alarm went off again. The fire engines were outside which added more concern for us to stay at the property. We're requesting a refund for the day of the fire.

Not bad, not good

As an "extended stay" facility, OK I guess. As a weekend getaway, left a lot to be desired. Bedding and bathroom, in particular were substandard. And noise insulation not the best. Overall a decent value, but next time I'll spend a bit more.

Nice Hotel

It was a nice hotel. The rooms have a small kitchenette which came in handy. The staff was friendly. The hotel was close to the highway and shopping. The only downfall was there was no pool and did not have continental breakfast. The bed was ok. It seemed to slope to one side so it was a little uncomfortable. Also, it was a little confusing how to get to the hotel. The hotel does not have a driveway on the street that it is addressed on.

Convenient location, helpful staff

We needed to stay 3 nights for a family birthday, during college graduation season, and were happy to find this affordable hotel. The room was well furnished, and we appreciated the kitchen, since breakfast isn't provided. But, it is very hard to find, in an office park setting, and the a/c was very noisy. We shut it off during the night, but in the summer months, the room would probably get too hot. We heard lots of footsteps from upstairs also. It is located in a very convenient area, and the staff were very helpful. Just don't expect any luxuries--no daily maid service either.

NOT close to public transportation

Candlewood Suites Burlington is NOT within easy access to Boston by public transportation, [...]. If you stay at this hotel and plan to travel to Boston, make sure you rent a car or like taking multiple buses + subways + walking about a half mile because the last, nearest bus runs at 9:30 PM. Red Sox games average ending at 10:30PM. [...]

Ugly

This place seemed to be in need of repair and definately needs attention to the status of amenities. Baseboards falling off, fixtures broken or askew. Kitchen appliances in extended-stay not working properly or missing completely. I definatley will NOT stay here at this location again.

Nakthi From CA

The price is low but the hotel is terrible in quality. The walls are so thin that you could hear your next door neighbor making love and people walking down the hallway. You can hear anything through the walls. The hotel is built with very low quality and so there's no noise insulation materials so you can easily hear the TV from the next room and people walking down the hall, and you can hear people talking in their room while walking down the hall too.

Too Far from Downtown

The Candlewood Suites were SWEET, it had a fridge, stove, dishwasher, etc... the room was nice and had comfortable beds however, room service only came every 7 days and we were only there for three, and the hotel is located 17 miles from the downtown boston area. The hotel staff was not very assisting when we needed directions to get downtown. The burlington mall is across the street and the help desk there was able to direct us in the right way.
