Westin Boston Waterfront

Overall, I thought the hotel was too over priced given the small rooms, lacks of personal (what hotel doesn't offer a hairdryer in the room!!!) and travel conveniences, such as no shuttle to airport, costing us an additional $20. And, no shuttle before 5:00 pm. Not a child friendly hotel, this is basically a place for business, nothing else. I ws very disappointed and should have stayed closer to the city, this is a good 2-3 mile walk to Fanueil Hall.

The Westin Boston Waterfront is isolated

Nice motel - wasn't worth the price since it is in the middle of no where. Would be great if there was something at the convention center

Not for everyone

Make no mistake, this is a great hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Style, cleanliness and decor are as good as it gets for a hotel in it's price range, and although across the river from the downtown area it's only a 20 minute stroll. But there was one drawback as far as I was concerned: being next door to an exhibition and conference centre and having its own meeting rooms it's aimed at corporate guests with a company to pick up the bill, and their lies the problem. In-hotel dining is expensive and prohibitive for families, and on the Saturday evening when I decided to use the dining room before an early departure the next morning, it was closed, as was the Starbucks located in the lobby, and so was the hotel shop that has a few overpriced nibbles. So when the working week is done, if you're there on a family holiday you don't seem to matter to the hotel. True, there is a pub-style venue adjoining, but you will have to block out the high volume music if you want to attempt a conversation. There was also a limited room service delivering food to your room, but with added service charge, a compulsory graturity and the usual taxes, a basic ten inch pizza for one with no frills cost nearly $25 dollars by the time it reached my door! So regrettably, it's not really a family-friendly place to stay, which is such a shame. With a little thought and care it could be so much better.

Dining tip: Not Applicable

Always try to eat out and not rely on the hotel, and have some essentials in your room that will keep the family happy. A useful tip anywhere, but an essential survival tip here!

Great Stay in Boston

It is always great to stay at Westin. If I had it to do over again I might have stayed at the Westin at Copley Place for convienence. It is right in the heart of downtown.
