Good for economical business travel

The Constitution Inn is a perfect location and price for someone coming frequently to Boston. I love the 15 minute walk along the historic Charlestown navy yard, over the bridge into the North End of Boston. The YMCA on the ground floor is a great amenity, as is free Wifi in the rooms. The rooms themselves are serviceable, but showing their age and have definitely seen better days - but that is the tradeoff for the location and price. This has become my first choice for budget travel in Boston.

Last minute business trip

I couldn't find any hotels downtown for a last minute business trip. I was able to get a room at this inn on the night before arrival. I was wary due to the previous reviews, however I was pleasantly surprised by the facility and especially the location. Easy walk to the ferry terminal for a quick and cheap ferry ride to downtown was especially nice.

Clean, nice neighborhood, great price

I was rather taken aback when I saw that what I thought was a quaint inn was actually a YMCA. But I found the room clean, the staff friendly, and nice gym facilities. The Charles River was walking distance away and some good restaurants nearby. Good deal for the price.

Near USS Constitution, Freedom Trail

Staff was helpful. Convenience food and higher end both nearby. Walked to USS Constitution and to Freedom Trail. Constitution Inn is on same side of Charles River as the Bunker Hill monument. Most of the Freedom Trail is across the river and that is still walkable. I would walk from the Inn to the other end of Freedom Trail and call a taxi to bring me back to hotel.

Part of the Freedom Trail is within walking distance: the USS Constitution and the Bunker Hill monument. Suggest that people walk the Freedom Trail from the end near the Constitution Inn and take a cab back to the hotel.

Not fancy but great value

Located in the former Boston Navy Yard and run by the "Y" it's very convenient, with a free shuttle that runs virtually around the clock into several Boston stops with connections to public transportation--or if you're adventurous, to a water taxi that takes you to the heart of town on a brief scenic harbor cruise. No "business center," just one public computer, but a terrific exercise room. Good restaurant within short walk, good cafeteria next door. Bed comfortable, room small but clean, staff very helpful. I used it simply as base for 2-day visit to Harvard Campus & trip to New Hampshire from North Station, also Italian restaurants in North End. Would certainly use on future trips. No fancy or plush, minibar, chocolate on pillow, other frills. TV of course, forget how many channels.

Boston's North Station a 1-mile walk; USS Constitution and Bunker Hill monument shorter; a restaurant called Navy Yard Bistro, very good, 2 or 3 blocks away

Great neighborhood

The hotel is on the older side but the area is fantastic. It was difficult to get enough towels for our room . If you ask for 3 they usually brought a wash cloth hand towel and a bath towel . The rooms need updated but other than that the hotel is fine . I didn't worry about safety and it was a short walk to the corner store and public transportation.

Good value, good location

The hotel was easy to find, and parking was available. I cannot say enough about the staff at the front desk. They were friendly, personable, and answered every question. The room was adequate, and we appreciated the refrigerator and microwave. It was clean, although somewhat in need of paint in the bathroom.
