unbeatable location

Came in for a Red Sox game. The location of the hotel is great, close to Newbury Street and Fanueil Hall. Hopped on the T and it only took about 10 mn to get to the game. The room itself is tiny and average. If you dont plan on spending alot of time in the hotel it will serve your purpose just fine

great hotel, location and staff

I only stayed for a night, but I was satisfied with the quality of the hotel. It wasn't perfect, but there was nothing unacceptable to me. The room had a beautiful view and it was only a block away from the public garden, which is right next to the common. The hotel has a fitness center, but I did not have time to check it out. I wish they had a free airport shuttle, but it was very easy to get to the hotel from the airport using the T (subway) and it's fast! It only took about 20 minutes. There are many restaurants nearby and on the other side of the parks. I ate at Upper Crust pizza, which was delicious and inexpensive. There are many Italian restaurants as well, but I did not try them.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Take the shuttle bus to the blue line airport station where you head towards bowdoin and get off at government center. Then you transfer to the green line towards boston college and get off at arlington. That stop is a short block away from the hotel. Just walk south on arlington (away from the public garden) and you'll find the hotel on the corner of arlington and park plaza.

Great location in downtown

We absolutely love the location of this hotel. It's next to the Public Garden and only blocks away from many of the city attractions. We stayed in 2-Double bed room with 2 kids, so the room and bathroom is a bit small but still sufficient. We usually stay in hotels that provide free WI-FI, breakfast, and parking, but we found ways to avoid charges to some of these. The hotel lobby has a free WI-FI hot spot, and next door is Aubon Pain which marks down bakery 50% between 8-10p.m. We parked at Motomart Garage just across from the hotel for $31/night. I highly recommend this hotel if you don't have a car and most of your sightseeing is in the downtown area or reachable by the subway.

great place

this place is great for location...you cant get better for a great price...it is an old historic place with many rooms...all different sized rooms...not a generic modern place...i think it is beautiful and perfectly located. if you have not been to boston and really just want to walk everywhere there is no reason to stay anywhere else. some folks prefer large fancy places, but i just loved its quaintness and charm. clean, well located, nice people etc etc

Great location, would stay again

The hotel was great. It is an old hotel but elegant. The rooms are clean and the staff friendly. The hotel is conveniently located to many restaurants in addition to shopping downtown. The subway station is right across the street which makes this a great option for anyone going to a redsox game! I would recommend this hotel to anyone whether you are in Boston for business or for pleasure. There is parking across the street but it is $31 for 24 hours and there is no discount if you stay in the hotel.

Great location but disappointing

The hotel is in a great location less than a block from the T stop, 2 blocks from Newbury Street, and right in the middle of all the sights. The room was nice enough but the hotel shows its age in the bathroom. The tiles were broken or missing, wallpaper was peeling, etc. It was fine for the weekend but for the money paid, I would have expected those items to be fixed. Also, granted it was Memorial Day weekend, but it was noisy and I was woken up several times one night by people running and yelling in the hallway.

Weekend getaway

I was in Boston to see the Red Sox play, and to explore the city for a day. The hotel was beautiful, and the staff was helpful. However, there were a couple of things that were 'off'. There was some left-over soap in the shower from the previous occupant. One of the sample shampoo bottles was missing a cap. But what was even stranger was that someone walked into my room at approx. 8am, without so much as a knock on the door or a "housekeeping!" call. I'm not sure if this was an oversight or what, but I was scared enough that I pretended to be sleeping until the intruder left. Fortunately, whoever it was, walked in, paused, and proceeded to walk back out. While this experience was slightly strange, I would say that overall the hotel experience was good.

The North End of Boston has some amazing Italian restaurants, on Hanover Street. However, bring your cash because most do not accept credit cards!
