A good place to be

The hotel was centrally located in the area we were visiting. Our room had a nice view of the city. The bathroom was a little on the small side but functional. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The internet access was very helpful in that it allowed us to lookup places of interests and check on restaurants. Lots of places to eat within a short distance of the hotel.

Great location and a nice, modern hotel

If you're touristing Boston you could hardly do better - Boston Public Garden is a stone's throw away; walk to Chinatown and the Freedom Trail. Arlington subway stop is right there. Spacious room - we got a larger one than we paid for - modern bathroom. They set up a stand in the lobby each morning with coffee and pastries; convenient for quick getaways. We got a good deal on a well-known travel website that seemed like a lot dollarwise, except that in August we'd have paid nearly that or more for worse hotels that lack the great location. After staying at a bare bones place in Rhode Island for not much less, the luxurious beds were a welcome sight. The staff were efficient.

Money-saving tip: In Hotel

If you're concerned about the environment, turn the A.C. or the heat off when you leave the room; and follow the hotel protocol for not having your sheets or towels changed unless you actually want them changed. And write " for housekeeping" on a notepad when you leave a tip for the maid, especially if you haven't checked out yet.

College tour

Room was adequate for price. Service was not good--concierge, housekeeping etc. didn't answer phone during normal biz hours. Responsive once contacted through front desk. Waited so long for waiter at breakfast buffet that we left. $46 per day valet parking charge was a complete hidden gouge. Didn't match with the less than $200 room price. Big surprise at check out. Re location--hotel advertises as close to Fenway and BU--neither is walkable though just a short t ride away.

One Night

Location great. Staff very friendly. Our room was one of their smallest. A double bed ( not a Twin ) for 2 people is tough. Bathroom a closet. But we know the hotel, and the very cheap price incorporates this trade-off.

Good location

We walked at least 10 miles the first day...everything was within reach from the hotel. If you don't want to walk, there is plenty of public transportation. The only negative was that we paid all that money for a one night's stay and the view from our 15th floor tower was a brick wall. That was a bit of a disappointment, but we weren't there for the hotel view.

Boston Trip

The walls between rooms are paper thin, and a bachelor party next to us kept us up for hours. Also, there is limited sound proofing in and around the front door; you can hear people talking through the halls all night. The location is great, but I don't think I would stay at this hotel again.

Second class treatment

When I checked in, the desk person told me that the room I had reserved was sold out. She said that because I had booked my room through a third party the only option available was a smaller room. That was the only option mentioned so I asked if there was an upgrade option. Based on what I saw online, I got the same room I originally booked but I had to pay an extra $140 to get it. Then when I checked out, the desk person told me they could not even provide me with a receipt because I had booked through a third party. I had to call the hotel and get transferred several times after my stay to get a copy of the additional charges. The hotel lobby was noisy, and the elevators were unusually slow and packet with people. Several times on the way up or down we would stop at a floor with no room for anyone else to get on the elevator, but you could tell the crowd of people had been waiting a long time so someone would just push in anyway making each elevator ride oddly reminiscent of a New York subway at rush hour.
