Great Location

Was convenient to everything which is a big plus. However, safe was not working and did not receive a newspaper as requested. Had to ask twice to get safe fixed and paper delivered. Staff was friendly.

Convenient location for touring Boston

My wife and I had a great time in Boston and the Back Bay Hotel was a large part of it. Boston hotels are all pretty pricey but this was more reasonable than most and was conveniently located in the Back Bay. It was just one block away from Newbury Street and a few blocks away from the Public Gardens. The T (what Boston calls the subway) was also very convenient and we toured Faneuil Hall and the North End.

Affordable for a classy hotel

I liked staying at this hotel. The only downside is that I didn't get a view of the city and the thermostat was noisy and it was hard to sleep through the night.

Great location.

Location is ideal. Quiet but close to everything. Room was clean, but was not impeccable. There was a small stain or two on the carpet and chair. Nothing big, but you could tell it's been a few years since a remodel. Towels also varied through the visit. Some were new and luscious...others had been washed over and over again so they were thin. Staff was great though. Most things are great -- just a few small finishing touches could be upgraded to the luxury they once were.

Back Bay Hotel

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location was nice, even though there weren't that many family-friendly restaurants/breakfast places nearby. The room was small; the air was too dry and our heating/cooling system did not work properly. Free internet access was nice, but the valet parking is $42 per day (!). Would probably look for another place to stay next time.

Great weekend

This hotel has a great location. A five minute walk from 2 T stops. It has two places to eat within the hotel. The staff was very attentive. The room was excellent-heated beach size towels, a refrig and safe, comfortable bed, very quiet, great toiletries-just to name a few. We hope to be back next year on our annual trip.

Great place to stay in Boston in the Back Bay district

The hotel was wonderful...the staff is extremely professional, the hotel is clean and not gaudy, the room was very clean and had awesome climate control, and so much more. I got a room without a view (I was looking against another hotel set of windows and the roof), otherwise I would have been extremely happy with the room overall. I love how the hotel doesn't nickel and dime you. You get free wireless/wired internet access, you get 2 free bottles of water in your fridge every day, and you get some nice bath amenities. You don't have a coffeemaker in their basic room that I got, but if you upgrade to the deluxe, you evidently get a Nespresso machine, which is very nice. The room service was prompt for late night service. However, the food quality wasn't the best. I got 6 rubbery gross shrimp with a CLUMP of something that was supposed to be cocktail sauce but it looked like tomato paste (??????) for $18 and a bowl of THE SALTIEST clam chowder I have EVER HAD for $9. It was so salty I tried to dilute it with water from the bottled water, but even with a quarter bottle of water added, it was way too salty still. I called the front desk and they comped that stuff, which was nice. Still...never ordering their room service again. Blech. I'd definitely stay at this hotel again the next time I'm in Boston in the Back Bay area.

Money-saving tip: In Hotel

If you are on a tight budget, get food from a quickie mart that you can put into the free mini fridge to eat for your meals. There's plenty of room in there for yogurt, small orange juice, small milk, sandwiches and more.
