Luxuriously refined classic hotel overlooking Boston's Public Garden

The Taj Boston is one of the city's most desirable hotels with the Public Garden and Boston Common in the backyard and upscale boutiques on Newbury Street out the front door. Since 1927, a stately lobby with refined décor and fine art has welcomed guests. A 2002 multimillion-dollar renovation restored the hotel to its original glory in honor of the Taj's 75th anniversary. Elegant rooms offer twice-daily housekeeping and top-notch amenities. Guests can walk to Copley Place, the theater district and other Boston attractions from this central hotel.

Highlights
  • Historic setting overlooking Boston's Public Garden
  • 2002 multimillion-dollar restoration
  • Mobil four star rating and 2010 Travel + Leisure World's Best award
  • Complimentary car service to financial district
  • Bath, technology and fireplace butlers on staff
Rooms
Stately elegance defines the hotel's 273 guest rooms, including 45 expansive suites with rich wall coverings, lush fabrics and a regal color palette. Plush bedding, comfy terrycloth robes, marble vanities and luxe bath products add to the allure. Guests enjoy twice-daily housekeeping services with evening turndown. Most rooms have views of either the Public Garden or Newbury Street and some suites have wood-burning fireplaces. High-speed Internet is available (fees apply).
Features

The 2002 multimillion-dollar renovation returned the Taj to its former glory, but amenities still add modern touches. Bath, technology and fireplace butlers on staff provide guests with personal attention, accommodating many needs. A grand lobby greets guests with a rich collection of art and antiques. Enjoy seasonal, local cuisine accented with Italian and French influences at the Café or the Bar. Traditional afternoon tea occurs in the Lounge, an elegant drawing room overlooking Newbury Street. A full fitness center allows guests to escape, while private massages deliver relaxation to guest rooms.

romantic weekend in Boston

lovely spacious room (Premier ) with a view of Com monwealth Ave. All staff skilled and extra attentive and genuinely seemed proud of their hotel and wanting to make sure that all needs were met. Just happened to mention that it was my husband's birthday and a tray of scrumptious goodies arrived in the room. Lovely food. Could not have been happier and my expectations were exceeded.

Great location to explore shop and eat

Located next to the main street for great shopping and restaurants - top class designer shops mixed with the better high street ones - hotel is very clean - great amenities - fab toiletries (Moulton Brown) - went on the Trolley Bus tours for 2 days which have a stop close to the hotel - best way to see Boston and includes a river trip. Staff at hotel very professional and friendly

Just As It Should Be....

I'll admit, after having enjoyed this place as The Ritz and knowing what this hotel meant to Boston for my lifetime, and having read so many negative comments, I was very reluctant to stay here, notwithstanding the very good rates offered when compared to other properties. I'm going to confirm my reluctance as unfounded! We all know the location, which no one could dispute as anything other than perfect, however walking into the lobby from Arlington St STILL feels special, this is a beautifully designed and maintained hotel. Likewise my room is very fine indeed, the bed is extremely comfortable and it exudes luxury. For the rate I'm paying it's an absolute steal. My only comment would be that it seems cool even when working the thermostat but I did NOT call to ask about this as I enjoy a cool room so I'm noting but not criticizing it. The Bar meanwhile is perfection, old school perfection. Unlike The Four Seasons which I have always loved, they have mercifully NOT installed a tv here! The waiters seem to have been here forever, heaven bless them! They know their jobs well! So naysayers begone. Taj is doing a fine job with the dear old girl.
