Seaport Hotel Boston - Fabulous, Polite!

Layla Nov 22, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

The first thought was that the Seaport Hotel is in a beautiful, historic harbor-view area of the city. When I checked in, I ... was struck by the hospitality of the front desk, very helpful and polite! All the employees - bellman, restaurant help, etc. - were all extraordinarily nice. The rooms were clean with lovely views, good restaurant food & room service. Management is doing a great job all around!

Perfect ending to our trip

Toni Oct 31, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

The last night of our trip was spent in Boston before flying back home. We were pleasantly surprised that the hotel was ... located only steps away from the silver line of the transportation system. This was an easy, inexpensive way to get to the airport. The staff at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. We were conserned with our late afternoon flight that we would be wondering around Boston with all of our luggage. The helpful staff member checking us into our room allowed us to have a very late check out. The room was clean and very comfortable. I look forward to returning to Boston and this hotel.

Great family hotel

momoboys Oct 27, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

We came to Boston to explore the museums and aquarium with our 5 and 8 yo boys. The staff were friendly and helpful. They ... welcomed our 2 young children at reception and at the pool. They are trying a family/kid night on Friday nights. Great idea, but still in the early phase. Otherwise the Aura restuarant was a bit pricey and fancy for young, active kiddos. We found LTK 2 blocks away to have great food, but working on their children's menu. It is about 10 minute kiddo walk to the Children's Museum. About a 1.2 mile walk to the aquarium. Plan on taking 2-3 trains to any destination in the city, as they are on the silver line. Downfalls were no playgrounds closer than the Children's Museum and limited family friendly restaurants.

This hotel distinguishes itself by being a no-tip hotel. This is a refreshing change from the constant digging for tip ... money. This is a very nice hotel with a good restaurant downstairs, but I would have preferred to have a microwave available in my room to accomodate my special diet. They do provide a small refrigerator in the room. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. I had no problems with check-in or check-out.

Recreation/Attractions tip

This hotel is close to the Boston Convention Center, but NOT close to most historical or recreational sites. The hotel is great about getting taxis for their guests. The concierge is very helpful about local sites and activities. There is also a public transportation stop just outside the hotel. The Boston Metro is an alternative to multiple taxi rides...

Hotel was beautiful! Terrific room...Great detail to service. Also, they don't take tips! They charge you $3.00 a day on your ... bill. Super idea!! Hotel lounge was very nice. Always a cab outside. One tip...if you come by air, take the water taxi from the airport to the hotel....but use a City water taxi...it drops you off closer to the hotel. We used a Boston Cruise Shuttle, and they drop you off a little farther away.Went back to airport by City Water Taxi that the hotel called for us. Right on time!! Perfect!! Also, the hotel is on the route for many Boston Tours so pick up is easy. Very closes to a great Seafood Restaurant...Anthony's Pier 4...we walked there in 3 minutes! Great dinner and service, also! I highly recommend the Seaport Hotel!!!!

Don't always believe the reviews you read. It seems that the more expensive the restaurant, the more complaints...maybe Bostonians don't like to spend too much for dinner. I checked many many restaurant reviews, and I'm glad I didn't go by them!! Both restaurants we went to...Anthony's Pier 4 and Fleming were excellant and I'd go back in an instant.

For the quality of the service and staff and the comfort of the rooms, this hotel was a great value. The non tipping policy ... is a major plus. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The pool and fitness center have very convenient hours. The brewery tour nearby is fun. We took several historical tours and rode the trolley. A trolley shuttle took us to the starting point and the tour company picked us up. There are several good restaurats nearby that are reasonably priced. The only problem we encountered was that the grab 'n go breakfast was out of cereal several mornings. Overall, a great experience.

Poor Service and inaccurate information

Mom Jul 8, 2009

When I booked the hotel I was told we would be able to see the fireworks from the window facing the harbour. When I checked ... in I was told that We would not be able to see from our window. It took until our check-out to get an answer regarding a rebate. I spent approximately 2 hours at the desk and phone to accomplish a $50 return. When we pulled out the sofa bed it had not been cleaned for sometime from the dust and peanuts we found under it. Lastly there was no bell service due to a wedding.

Time savers tip, Short Walk

Take the water taxi if you are going downtown. The cost is about the same as a regular cab for two (cheaper for one) and the view is spectacular!

Dining tip, Short Walk

Don't always believe the reviews you read. It seems that the more expensive the restaurant, the more complaints...maybe Bostonians don't like to spend too much for dinner. I checked many many restaurant reviews, and I'm glad I didn't go by them!! Both restaurants we went to...Anthony's Pier 4 and Fleming were excellant and I'd go back in an instant.

Shopping tip, Short Walk

We walked almost everywhere we went. If you don't like to walk a taxi is always available.

--Trisha, Saugus Sep 1, 2008

Entertainment tip, Short Drive

We took taxicabs to dining and entertainment. The rides were short and inexpensive. We dined at the Capital Grill and smaller restaurants in town. We used our Boston Go Cards to do a trolley tour, a Fenway Park tour and a trip to the Aquarium. The Aquarium was especially close to the Seaport Hotel.

Great seafood at the Barking Crab. If you don't have concert seats, try the outdoor seating at resturant accross the street.

Dining tip, Short Walk

Quincy Market, which has loads of shopping and dining available and the North End of Boston which has the Italian restaurants is about a 15 minute walk. The World Trade Center and the new convention center is right outside the door and in the summer, a concert tent with great name entertainment is right down the street.
