Cramped and dated.

Got a deal on the room and it was a good $100 a night cheaper than other hotels in the area. Room 510 was very small and cramped. The air conditioner blew air directly on the bed so we had to keep turning it up and down. The bathroom tiles were chipped and the grout in the shower was eating away. I gave it three stars because there was a free continental breakfast, a computer with a printer to use and the staff was friendly. If you can get it cheap like I did and you don't need much than it's an ok to place to stay. Otherwise don't waste you're money.

goode location, limited amenities

Travelling from England I was looking for a reasonably priced hotel in central Boston and chose the Milner. For its locationm, close to theatres and public transport, it proved ideal. There is no restaurant and braekfast has to be self-prepared but I found that acceptable. My single room was very cramped but bed was comfortable. No facilities (apart from bed) to relax or read or write. Staff at reception pleasant and helpful. On final day it was useful to leave luggage at hotel before transit to airport. I would use the Milner again.

Just OK

I was in Boston for PAX East and this was one of the only hotels with rooms available. Every hotel in Boston is expensive, so I can't complain too much about the price, but for over $200 per night, this was asking a bit much. This is an older, more run down hotel, and it shows. The windows from my room faced the brick walls of an alleyway, and that's about it. The room was small and the bed was just OK. Nothing extraordinary about it. The TV and bathroom fan didn't work. There was no microwave or mini fridge in the room itself. You had to go downstairs for that. On a positive note, their breakfast offering was quite good, and the location is close to several train stops. You're also within walking distance from several destinations, including the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.

Nice hotel at a nice location

I had a lovely time at the Milner Hotel. It doesn't have the same grandeur you see from the big chains, with their immense lobbies and gold trim. Instead, it's a cute little building, but the staff was very helpful, our rooms were cleaned well and we got all the amenities we expected, plus Wifi and a small breakfast spread that we didn't expect.

Boston downtown getaway

This was my first trip to Boston so I was unsure what hotel I should get. Everything near downtown was so expensive. Then I found The Milner. I won't sugar coat it, the room is tiny but that only adds to the charm of this stay. It was comfy, cozy and in walking distance of all the attractions I wanted to see. Easily can walk to Quincy Market and the waterfront. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to stay in boston but is on a tight budget. I'd stay again in a heartbeat!

Exceeded Expectations

We didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel, so location was of more importance than "amenities," and the Milner is within easy walking distance of the Ballet, at least two car rentals, a very good cinema, and the Prudential Center. There was also a neighborhood Starbucks. Yay! I was concerned that the area might turn out to be a bit seedy, but it was fine. The hotel itself is an older 1870's job, with narrow stairs and corridors, but I'm okay with that (as long as the bath is modern, and it was). The counter people were polite and informative. I'm completely happy with the experience.

Good for the price

The rooms are very small, and there was no chair/writing table (which I would have liked). However, for $129/night in the back bay area, you can't beat it. Most staff members were very friendly, and the rooms were reasonably clean. Although, the sweat stains on my pillow were a little unsettling. The free breakfast is pretty good, but it's never completely ready by 6:30am (like it is supposed to be). The woman running the breakfast area has a bit of an attitude problem, as does the woman at the check-in counter during the day.

Small, old, but very conveniently located

I missed on the booking for my conference hotel and scrambled to find a reasonably priced hotel in Boston, close to the original hotel. The Bad:This hotel is very old. I had a small single room where the bathroom door was removed to make it seem bigger. It was in March and the window leaked cold air. My room faced the street and there was a lot of street noise. When I asked about being relocated to the alley, I was told it was noisier when the nightclubs let out. The wifi was out one night. The Good: The bedding was clean and the room acceptable. Just a block from the hotel is a great food court and it is conveniently located near theaters. The price was fine. There is a modest breakfast with fruit, waffles and breads. The wifi is free. Would I stay again, if I were in Boston alone for tourism, yes. The price was good and I just pretended I was in a pension in Europe.

Milner Hotel, Boston

They keep upgrading this hotel. Each time I stay there something else has been improved in some way. It is convenient, comfortable, clean and has a friendly and helpful staff. A wide assortment of foods are available for gratis breakfast, including make-your-own waffles. Also, they have laundry facilities in the basement. This is a perfect hotel for someone on a budget.
