A great but not excellent hotel
The Cop Oct 26, 2009
We went to Boston for the weekend. The Fairmount Battery is a great hotel, but I still think it is a true robbery to charge ... 42 USD per night for parking your car) especially since this can be done a four minute walk from the hotel at a cost of 14 USD per night). Service, over all, was very good. People working the front desk was with few exceptions very helpful. Our room was very nice, well equipped, although a bit noisy (could hear the elevator "ping"). The DVD was not installed, but a friendly man from auxiliary service managed that for us. If you can accept this expensive hotel, they will not let you down. From what we hear though, the restaurant does need trimming on both chefs and service personal.

We were upgraded at this hotel to a huge studio room with a wonderful bathroom. It was definitely fit for a business ... executive. We had a selection of appetizers to choose from in the afternoon and there was an "honor bar" where we could pour our own drink. In the morning we had a breadfast buffet. Both of us were quite impressed with this hotel.

Outdoor drinking and eating are available on the boardwalk. Green space is nearby as is the New England Aquarium. Quincy Market and Fanueil Hall are only 5 minuted from the Long Wharf.

Shopping, whale watching and a visit to the New England Aquarium. A softer bed and a cooling system in the room that ... provided cooling at a more manageable rate would have contributed to a more comfortable rest. On a scale of 1 - 10, a seven.

Wonderful New Hotel
FunFlorida Adventurer Sep 30, 2009
This was part of a 31 day driving trip through Eastern Canada and the NE US. This was the best hotel experience of 17 ... different hotels. It is new, modern and extremely comfortable. The people were truly outstanding. It's right on the water and we were walking distance to great restaurants and the Freedom Trail experience. Parking was $40 from the hotel, but off-site parking was within 2 blocks and $18. As a President Member (which I joined), we got free Internet. We would definitely go back again! The only issue was a problem getting Taxis to the location - and our one request for a Taxi the next morning was not implemented...but it was resolved. They are new and this will no doubt be fixed.

Safe parking off-site is within 2 blocks and is $18 per day vs. $40 valet per day.

Fabulous Hotel
World Traveler Sep 30, 2009
Went to Boston with my 2 sisters just for fun. The hotel couldn't have been better. The room was beautiful and big enough ... for 3. The Guest Services Asst. checked us in and went to the room with us to demonstrate how to use everything. We needed a rollaway bed on night 3 (of 6) and none was available so they gave my sister her own room for that night! The hotel is located in the North End near Little Italy and dozens of wonderful Italian restaurants. It sits right on the water just a water taxi ride from Logan airport. They say there's a charge for internet but, if you join the Fairmont President's Club which is free, the internet is free. The only puzzling thing is that there is no business center. You can borrow a laptop to use in the lobby but someone at the desk has to print boarding passes, etc. They gladly do this and bring the copies to your room. Overall, this is a great hotel and I would definitely pick it again!

Be sure to try Giacomo's Restaurant on Hanover St. There are only about 15 tables and there's usually a wait, but it's worth it! Try the butternut squash ravioli or the pumpkin tortellini (Rachel Ray's pick when she went there.)

A beautiful new gem
Weekend pleasure seeker Sep 14, 2009
Wow! We booked a deluxe harbor view king room through Orbitz and were upgraded to a magnificant suite upon arrival. We have ... traveled extensively in Europe and North America and consider this room to be one of the best accommodations we've ever had. It literally felt as though we were hovering over the water, with views out every window of our spacious and handsomely appointed suite. It was a stay that we will never forget. We also found the location to be ideal ... on a quiet wharf yet steps away from the lively North End and Quincy Market. Without a doubt, we will be returning to the Fairmount at Battery Wharf. We highly recommend it to any Boston travelers.

Use the water taxi transportation to and from Logan Airport. It will pick you up and drop you off at the hotel. One way trip for two passengers was $20. I believe we could have bought 2 roundtrip tickets for a discounted rate of $34. One way from the airport to hotel in a regular car was $23 (before tip) due to tolls. Not only is the water taxi scenic and convenient, but it's a more cost effective option. We opted to take a cab from the airport to the hotel only because it was raining when we arrived. Otherwise, we would have taken the water taxi both ways.

Great weekend stay
Jean Aug 25, 2009
Stayed here on a long weekend trip. We really liked the North End location. We used the ferry from the airport-straight to ... the hotel. The room was very clean and loved the comfortable bed and linens. The staff was very friendly. The first night there was a dog barking (don't know if it was the condos above us or not) Notified the front desk and never heard the dog again. Really nice being on the water. Nice view to sit on benches and watch boats going by. We had no problem walking to other parts of the city even though we hit a VERY humid weekend. Great hotel and city.

Great Hotel Along the Boston Waterfront
Karen Aug 19, 2009
This was an excellent location along the waterfront in the North End of Boston. My husband and I were there for a long ... weekend getaway. This was not our first time visiting Boston, but it was the first time staying in the city itself. We should have done this the first time! Faneuil Hall was about a 10 minute walk (at our fast pace) and we walked to all the sites we visited. It was a great spot as Hanover St. with all of its Italian restaurants was not even a 5 minute walk. There was also a great diner for breakfast - Anthony's - along Commercial St. I wished we had gone there our first morning instead of our last. This was the only "problem" I had with the hotel. There was no city guide (or even phone book)except for the Best of Boston to direct us to restaurants/diners in the area. There was a restaurant on site and a very good in-service menu, but I was not going to pay $6.00 for an individual sized box of Cheerios. We like to walk around and experience the city so we discover spots ourselves; I'm sure if we'd asked the front desk they would have been more than happy to help. The room itself was spotless - even the bathroom which is another pet peeve of mine. The room was quite large and modern- king bed, sleek end tables, desk (with internet ports), espresso machine, WELL stocked mini-bar, a GREAT view of the harbor, and my husband's favorite - flat panel tv. The bathroom was also large and modern with the closet located inside it. It was a great room to spend time in, out of the high heat Boston experienced.

Hotel Staff does everything possible to ensure your stay is excellent and they do it cheerfully. Hotel is a little pricey ... for our normal hotel stay (but not for the area or time)so it was a nice treat. Location to "walk" a lot of Boston is super. I would highly recommend this hotel to anybody.

Went to Boston for a quick getaway with my wife. Hotel is in a great area, close to shopping and Fantastic Italian ... restaurants. Booked a King room, when we were taken to our room we walked in to a queen. When I questioned them, they were very quick to resolve the problem, however the king that they gave us was right above the main entrance and valet. I asked for yet another room and after about an hour they had another room for me,excellent service! Room was pretty small but that was fine for us as we are used to cruise ship rooms. The negative...we were awoken at 4 am by the people in the suite next to ours. I called the front desk and they said they would take care of it right away. Noise stopped for a short period of time but started back up again. Not sure what happened, but the noise eventually stopped and we were able to get back to sleep again. Oh, parking is a little steep at $42/day. Also found hotel restaurant to be a little pricey but overall very good food.

We wanted to go to Boston for April school vacation, we chose to stay at the Fairmont because it was near the North ... End,Fanuell Hall, Aquarium and we wanted a little luxury. When we arrived at The Faimont it was first class service from the moment we were there to when we left. We were located on the first floor and it was very quiet, room was spotless. The Staff were wonderful to our daughter! One of our nights after dinner we did enjoy a glass of wine from the lounge which was wonderful and be by the harbor. Can't wait to go back.
