Close to TD Garden!!!!!

At first arrival our room wasn't ready and we waited 45 minutes. The manager agreed to take 20% off our bill at checkout. Because the reservation was online and prepaid it took several weeks upon return home to get my refund, although I did eventually get it. Can't beat the location if you're going to Boston for an event at the Garden!

Boston weekend

My husband and I joined friends in Boston on Sept 21-23. We had 2 king rooms at the Bullfinch. Check in and out was friendly and quick. The staff filled my request for a high room. The rooms were small but very comfortable, including the bed. The location was great-walked everywhere. We found great bars nearby and spent the end of each evening in the hotel bar/restaurant. The staff was great and the cocktails generous. We would book here again. One suggestion that did not affect me but might be better for those who like to read in bed is brighter bulbs in the bed stand lights.

Downtown/North End in Walking Distance

Perfectly located for my work at the Science Museum. Within walking distance (even in a downpour) to the Union Oyster House @ Gov't. Center & Regina's in the North End, two of my favorite Boston eateries. Close to the "T" (North Station Green Line) from which I was able to visit MFA Boston and the new Renzo Piano wing of the Gardner Palace w/ a single LRV ride. Staff is young, friendly and competent. Dave, the chef at the Flatiron Restaurant in the hotel, creates a succulent pork chop topped off w/ aromatic truffle oil - delicious!

Great location, very friendly staff

Our stay at The Bulfinch was great. Right around the corner from the TD Garden, it is the perfect location for catching a concert or game. And it is well within walking distance of a lot of the signature sites in Boston ( including Quincy Market and the Boston Common/theater district). We would deffinitely stay there again!

Bulfinch

Made the reservation ... Arrived at the hotel greeted nicely by the door man who helped me park the car temporarily. Front desk was pleasant, however (for the first time) was informed that the top three floors were being reconstructed. The room was small but that's not a terrible problem except that there were not enough surfaces to put my things. The room could have been cleaner carpet did look as though it should have been vacuumed much more thoroughly. It was quite noisy at night and I could hear the construction until late into the night. There was a long waiting time to get the only elevator in the building which was pretty annoying. Eventually just used the stairwell. Staff was competent professional and friendly. Ice machine had black stuff in it which tells me that it is not being cleaned frequently. That's not good. Other thang hat it was fine and based on price I would go again however I would not want to spend more than I did

The staff really make this hotel what it is

If the staff didn't try as hard as they do this hotel would be pretty bad, but they are great. The room was "cozy" or small if you would, but you can over look things when almost every review says "small rooms" you kind of know what you're getting into. The restaurant was closed due to renovations which I never received a notice of but you are a stones throw from like 15 other food joints. Only one elevator, but multiple stairwells so if you don't mind walking it's fine, and the elevator was pretty quick after you get in it.

nice stay in boston

the hotel was nice... room a bit small, but the bed was comfy and room was clean. first time in Boston and was was not happy to pay $30 a night for parking. receptionist told us of nearby parking garage, and we asked if there was anything cheaper, but she said no. As we walked back from parking garage, we saw a place $10 cheaper right next to the hotel.

Great Location

My friends and I came to this hotel for a weekend trip to Boston to watch a Celtics game. The staff helped us with anything that we needed: directions, toothbrushes, cups, really anything. The location couldn't get much better. It is right around the Corner from the TD Garden, within walking distance of Quincy market, the Science Museum, and Faneuil Hall. There is a lot to do in the area from bars, restaurants, museums to shopping. The only negatives were that the room was on the smaller side, not that we stayed in it other than to sleep, and that the tapas bar downstairs was closed for renovations.

friends weekend

Had a great weekend at the hotel. The rooms are fairly small, but most of the reviews state this as well, so you really shouldn't expect a huge room when you book it. The rooms were clean and updated. The hotel is in the middle of construction and entire floors were closed. It was loud at times (not at night, however), but its nice to see they are updating the hotel. In terms of location, its very close to north station, TD bank north, and many bars and restaurants in the area. Also within walking distance to faneuil hall and the north end. they even gave us free parking for our rooms. Overall, it was a great stay.

Great for Short Business Trip

The Staff were extremely nice and helpful. The room, although small, was very clean and comfortable. Desk lighting was rather dim. There were no pens or note paper in the room and the alarm clock was on the desk and not next to the bed, so you couldn't tell what time it was unless you got out of bed. The restaurant was excellent. The location of the hotel is wonderful. I walked to all of my business and leisure activities. Because of the size of the room, I would think twice about using the hotel for an extended (more than two days) stay.

Could have been better

The staff at the front desk were great. The Flat Iron restaurant could definitely been better. The food was just okay, and there was not a huge selection and it was a bit pricey ($30 for 2 plates of eggs, homefries and toast, and a coffee). The room was nice but TINY! They only had one elevator which sometimes took a while to wait for. They were undergoing renovations but we really weren't disrupted with it, besides the workers using the elevator and having to wait for that. Otherwise, it's a cute small hotel. We stayed because we were attending the Celtics game and wanted to be able to walk to the TD Garden, and we were able to achieve just that. The room rate was pretty good considering the location. I'd recommend the hotel, but not the restaurant.

Extreme Renovations

We happened to visit during a time of extreme renovations. The main lobby was curtained off, and the temporary lobby left a lot to be desired. But how else would one expect renovations to be done while still open? Other than that, the accommodations were delightful. If you are staying during a time of renovating, I would ask for a discount.

Annoyingly quirky

The room was nice and very clean but so small that you can't move around without bumping into furniture. Our TV and phone didn't work, and half the time when you tried to call the front desk, nobody answered. That said, the staff was extremely friendly. I'd avoid this place until they finish renovating though. Would be fine for one person who doesn't plan to spend much if any time in the room.

Location is what makes this place...

The Bulfinch is a 10-15 min walk from all the great restaurants in the north end, quincy market and td garden. That's why we have stayed here in the past. The room in general is not great. This time around the drinking glasses were dirty, the kleenex were shoved back into the box and were wet(really disgusting surprise) and everything else was clean enough but still left you wondering what was there that you couldn't see. The bed was comfortable and the tv works but there is no refrigerator and it's really just a room to spend one night in. They have lowered the costs of rooms and we were surprised to stay in such a great location at $128 a night but beware that means that 20-something drunks can afford it too. We were awoken at 2 am by people screaming in the hall and ended up having to call the police. We are hoping to receive a refund for our stay. Next time we think it will be worth it to pay an extra $100-$200 and stay somewhere else in the same vicinity.

All Things Considered

They are in the midst of a huge renovation. Fortunately, we were placed in nice room. Newly renovated, expect the furnishings. Curtains were made out of paper. No room darkening. One elevator was inconvenient with all construction materials moving up and down same space. No luxuries, no common areas. Restuarant was also closed. Cant beat the location when wanting to be near train and downtown.

Disappointed

I was very disappointed with my experience at this hotel...I had booked this at least 6 months in advance and had no idea that the hotel would be under construction. The bar downstairs was closed which my girlfriends and I were very excited to experience along with the fact that the main lobby was ripped apart and there were construction people everywhere which made it very hard to check in and get to your room. Not to mention the fact that they charged me for parking...we had two cars and I was unde the impression that parking was free but they charged me 45.00 for each car. I am very disappointed and feel that I should be refunded for the fact that nothing was told to me and they should have closed while they were doing the main lobby!!!!!!!
