Created in 1927 by the great hotelier E.M. Statler as a grand American hotel, it was called a "city within a city". Today it takes pride in serving Boston as a destination itself, housing under one roof some of Boston's most famous restaurants and lounges, including Todd English's Bonfire Steakhouse, McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant and Smith & Wollensky's Steakhouse located in The Castle at Park Plaza, beauty salon/barber shop, Business Center, full-service concierge, fitness center, shoe shine and more.
Enter the hotel's palatial Grand Lobby and you'll experience the grace and warmth that is its signature whether serving Afternoon Tea in Swan's Café or hosting a convention or gala dinner for 2,000.

The hotel was designed for celebrations from its Imperial Ballroom with sparkling crystal chandeliers, gilded balconies and proscenium arch stage accommodating 2,000 to the more intimate setting for 50 in the historic Boston atmosphere of the oak-paneled Hancock Room. The Executive Chef and his staff creatively assist in menus from special requests to kosher catering.

Dining

Smith & Wollensky

The Boston restaurant offers the traditional Smith & Wollensky favorites, including dry-aged steaks and desserts prepared in-house by the pastry chef. Menu highlights include Bone-in Kansas City Cut, Prime Rib, Filet Mignon, Live Maine Lobster weighing in at two to five pounds, Creamed Spinach, and Wollensky's Famous Split Pea Soup. To complement the outstanding food, Smith & Wollensky offers its brand new Great American Wine List, which consists exclusively of 650 of the finest wines produced in the United States, including selections from Robert Mondavi, Harlan, Hanzell, and Jordan. The wine list is highlighted by a collection of "Undiscovered Gems" and 1997 California Cabernets that have been described by wine experts as California's "Vintage of the Century."

Todd English's Bonfire

Todd English has opened his first South American-inspired restaurant at the Park Plaza Hotel and Towers in the heart of downtown Boston . Bonfire is an untraditional American Steakhouse with South American influences. Bonfire features English's signature open, wood-fired kitchen turning out the finest hand cut prime steaks, along with spit fired Prime Rib of Western Beef. A firewall is the main focus, running along the back wall where the cooking becomes entertainment. Located behind the bar is an innovative taqueria serving fresh and unexpected taco and empanada combinations.

Swan's Cafe

The Boston Park Plaza Hotel & Towers' own dining area. Serving a continental fare throughout the day, it is a great place to unwind and enjoy one of the most beautiful dining rooms in Boston. Swan's Café features Boston's best dessert and pastry menu. Perfect for a midday break or late night indulgence. The historic Boston Park Plaza Hotel & Towers now offers a formal afternoon tea daily from 3pm-5pm. Relax with an assortment of sweet and savory delicacies as well as some rare and very special teas. This is more than just a tea party... Afternoon Tea at Swans Café is not your traditional tea, but rather a special culinary experience. The hotel is proud to be home to Tea Sommelier Cynthia Gold, one of only a handful of tea sommeliers in the world. This additional benefit allows us to offer our guests expertly guided tea tasting that can be found nowhere else in the city.

Whiskey Park

Located in the Boston Park Plaza, WHISKEY PARK marks Gerber Group's first collaboration with international designer Michael Czysz. With dark walnut paneling, bronze mirrored ceiling, two beautiful mahogany bars, liquid leather love seats and faux mink fur couches, this intimate and sexy lounge invites you to sit back and enjoy Gerber Group's signature. As in a number of Gerber Group's establishments, captivating black and white photography of renowned rock stars by photographer Jim Marshall adorn the walls of the bar. A reflective orange perforated wall behind the main bar and black restrooms with neon back-lit sinks provide the creative and sleek touches that make WHISKEY PARK one of the most intimate and stylish lounges in Boston.

Melting Pot

The Melting Pot of Back Bay brings a truly unique upscale/casual dining experience to Boston's vibrant dining scene. The Melting Pot is a dinner only restaurant where fondue becomes a memorable and interactive four-course dining experience where patrons can "dip into something different." This location will also offer a non-fondue bar menu to complement an extensive wine list (featuring approximately 200 selections of wine from around the world), beers and specialty cocktails. The menu will feature gourmet nibbles such as lobster quesadillas, chicken and beef sate, seared ahi tuna, smoked salmon bruschetta, garlic Dijon shrimp, and crab cakes.

McCormick & Schmick's

Conveniently located in the Boston Park Plaza Hotel adjacent to the Theater District, the Back Bay, Beacon Hill, Bay Village and the South End, McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant maintains a stellar reputation for uncompromising value and quality. Whether meeting for lunch, dinner, drinks or after theater dining, McCormick & Schmick's is the ultimate choice for family, friends, visitors and business associates.

Finale Desserterie & Bakery

We create sensational dessert experiences at Finale. What exactly does that mean? We use the best ingredients, like Valrhona chocolate and Tahitian vanilla beans. We use them to make the most delicious desserts you've ever eaten. They are also the most beautiful desserts you've ever seen. We treat them like jewels, like works of art. We make them on our dessert plating stage with culinary mirrors overhead, right in the middle of the dining room. We literally roll out the red carpet for you, along with velvet seating, candlelight, and linen napkins

MJ O'Connor's

Starting with only the finest ingredients, each dish is slow cooked according to recipes that have been used for generations. MJ's offers a great selection of authentic Irish specialties and a wide variety of drinks including lots of Irish stouts and ales

The deal was fantastic, and I am always happy when I stay there. This trip, we were place on a very noisy corner room, but in ... spite of the city noise, I still enjoyed my stay there. (they may need to replace the windows with those new noise reduction ones.) We had room service and it was excellent. Great water pressure and clean rooms. Very happy!

Classic old style hotel

This is a great old style hotel. The first impression when walking into the lobby is amazing (especially when we were there ... as they had just put up their Christmas decorations). "Awesome"

The time that I spend there it was great, even though didn't use all the amenities like the fitness room and the restaurant. ... The location is great is great, everything is within walking distance, about a mile or two, that is if you like to walk. I love walking so I did walk all over downtown Boston, did some sight seeing, shopping, took the trolley, ate in some local restaurants. And the best for me, went to the football game in Foxboro to see the Patriot's. Comparing this to my previous vacations, seriously I wouldn't know cause this is my first solo vacation I have taken the past have been with family. But overall it was a wonderful vacation cause I didn't have to worry about what the other person wanted to do and divide the time to share our interests. It really was a nice experience to travel solo and enjoy "me" time and do all the things I wanted to do, which in this case was travel to Boston and see everything with my own eyes. Definitely would go back next year. I had a wonderful time and maybe next time I would take someone with me.

To go to some local dining areas it may depend where you are staying, for example, for me I had to walk for about 20 min to get there but it was worth the walk. While walking you get to see some pretty good historic buildings, enjoy some of the street vendors, etc. Hope that if you go you enjoy your stay like I did cause its worth the walk.

The perfect choice for a stay in Boston

inimerodio Nov 22, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

This hotel was a perfect fit for my business trip purposes. Conviniently located in the Downtown / Theatre Disctrict area, ... close to the Boston Common Park and literally 50 steps away from the closest T-Line Station. The sorroundings are plenty of restaurants and the shopping areas are at less than 5 minutes away by walking, which makes it really nice. I wish I could have a bigger room, though. Anyway, for the price I paid for it I have the feeling that I made the most of my money.

Having stayed at the Boston Park Plaza many times, we requested a Deluxe King Room. The location is outstanding. While the ... room was ample sized, clean, comfortable, the two miniscule bathrooms were unworkable. Shower curtain liners were "pink" at the bottom indicating mildew. So-so business meeting experience

CF222 Oct 31, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

I attended a weeklong business meeting in this hotel and thought their concierge and front desk service was top notch. The ... food was decent and the catering staff was particularly fast and responsive. However, I was annoyed that a housekeeper randomly came into my room one night at 10:30 pm without knocking, and seemingly no explanation. The rooms and meeting space was fine but the group bathroom next to our space was consistently pretty disgusting. The location is wonderful, right next to the Commons and in the middle of several good restaurants. Overall, I'd have to see the price to see if I'd book my own meeting there but it was okay for what it was.

BPP is right in the middle of the theater district and three places you should definitely go either for an evening or after a show are 1) Legal Seafood - wonderful ambiance and mouth watering scallops, stuffed shrimp and lobster tails (about #30-50/dinner); 2) Da Vinci - really cute/romantic with a great three course Italian dinner that you can get for $33 before 6pm - great service, great food and the exectuve chef came out to meet us which was nice; and 3) Finale, a sit down dessert shop/bakery if you want a little more relaxed place to cap off your evening with a piece of tiramisu or a glass of wine. All three are about 1-2 blocks from the hotel.

Perfect location

Very happy traveler Oct 19, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

Perfect location for meeting with my clients. I didn't have to worry about renting a car or finding a cab, could easily walk ... to all of my appointments and even managed to find some time of my own to wander around and enjoy the city.

Seriously lacking on amenities.

Lulu De Aptos Oct 2, 2009

If you are looking for tiny rooms with crate size bathrooms (yes, I had two of them in my tiny room), no bath tub, no hair ... dryer, no coffee but a VERY comfortable bed, this may be the hotel for you. I would not stay there again.

Recreation/Attractions tip, Short Walk

The hotel is centrally located so is a short walk from the Boston Common, Prudential Center and the Freedom Trail. Boston is much better to experience "on foot".

Dining tip, Short Walk

To go to some local dining areas it may depend where you are staying, for example, for me I had to walk for about 20 min to get there but it was worth the walk. While walking you get to see some pretty good historic buildings, enjoy some of the street vendors, etc. Hope that if you go you enjoy your stay like I did cause its worth the walk.
