Does the simple things well, making for an enjoyable stay

This hotel proved ideal for our week long break in the Boston area (family of 3). The hotel was right on the metro line, giving easy access to the city centre and Fenway Park for Red Sox games. It provided free parking right outside our room - ideal for our motor trips further afield. The buildings were by no means new, but, apart from the lack of a self-service safe, our room had everything we expected, was warm, quiet and the beds clean and comfortable. The room rate included a convenient breakfast. We made full use of this - the only downside was that it was sometimes ran out of bananas or yoghurt. Overall we were pleased with the facilities and service provided and would stay there again.

In town for the Sox game

Bed wasn't a "king" as advertised. Pleasant, helpful, knowledgeable staff. Good value for the price.

affordable stay in Boston

Our family of four took a trip to Boston; rather than pay the high price tags associated with the hotels downtown, we stayed about 15 minutes farther out in the Brighton neighborhood, near Boston College and Boston University. This proved to be a great location for us, as we were close to colleges one daughter was interested in seeing, we had a quiet, calm escape from the city after a full day of sightseeing, and we had easy public access to the subway into the downtown area. The room itself is pretty average, but ours was wider than is typical, giving us more room to spread out. The bathroom was small and a bit outdated, but not bad. Two technical complaints; our room key cards never, ever worked on the first try--every time we wanted to enter our room we had to return to the front desk to have them rekey our cards or issue us new cards. And our door wouldn't latch properly; when you thought it was closed, it could easily be pushed open by a strong wind. You really had to slam it to make it catch. And...I can't find the original description, but I'm pretty sure the motel claimed to have a gym or fitness center--this was important to us, and I'm pretty sure I would have selected a motel offering this option. There is no gym on site; instead, they have access to one that is two or three blocks down the road. And it's not free, it's just discounted. To me, that's dishonest. Despite these dissapointments, I'd still recommend the place because it is an affordable alternative to staying in a hotel costing twice as much. The staff was also very nice--we dealt with front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance. Oh, and parking is free, as opposed to hotels downtown that may charge you an additional $30 per day.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Take the subway into the downtown area instead of driving. Parking is difficult and expensive, and traffic is even worse. The "T", as it is called, is like a hybrid between a subway, a trolley car, and a city bus. It costs $2.50 to board, no matter the distance you travel. It looks scary on the outside but is one of the more efficient things about traveling in Boston.

Ok Stay

We were only there for a couple nights and didn't expect to be in the hotel much so it was basically what we needed. Breakfast was so-so, but the internet and TV were good. Microwave and the fridge were great to have!

Not Pleased II

I was not pleased with the cleanliness of the room - particularly the carpet. The bathroom was so small that the towel rack was in the way of the toilet. There were opening windows which was nice, but no screens. The complimentary breakfast was typical and OK. The location was excellent for my purpose as it is close to Boston College. Overall the room was way over priced for the quality of the experience.

Very expensive room for a motel feel

The front desk staff were very friendly & efficient. The room came with breakfast which was fine staff were there making sure supplies were full. The room was very clean but the beds were very lumpy. Two dresser draws randomly would open after the first night and would not remain closed. Parking was challenging but free. Hotel is several miles from city center and not quite on main road as address would indicate, it is behind a closed gas station. I felt the room was very expensive for where it was located & no amenities except breakfast.

I would highly recommend Eastern Standard restaurant, 525 Commonwealth Ave., very good food. I would also recommend Giacomo's in North End on 355 Hanover Street. Italian food was excellent!! Service is rushed and seating is crowded they don't take reservations but waiting in line outside to get in is worth it! Haven't had Italian food like that since in Italy worth the wait & elbow rubbing.

Allright hotel for basic needs

I was travelling on business. The staff at the hotel was great! We had an issue with the door not locking, but they changed our room right away after attempting to fix the problem, The sink went down really slow and they did a good effort in trying to fix it (every day) however the problem did not re-solve. (maybe they needed a plumber, not a drano bottle). We needed to be on our way before breakfast started and they were completely fine with us grabbing some earlier than the scheduled time. We did run out of hot water on our last day which was not good : (. Overall I guess average. I do not travel much so I do not have much to compare it with.
