Beautifulful one of a kind!

We really enjoyed our stay at Nottaway. The staff were so helpful and kind. The accomidations were very clean and comfortable. Great Food too. The tour was wonderful. Hopefully the next time we visit we will be able to see the 3rd floor of the home.

Our Visit

Excellent food and service in the restaurant. Tour of historic house engaging and professional. Room in the old "boys; quarters" quite nice. Grounds both during the day and at night were beautiful. There on a Mon. night/Tues. so no weddings going on but that might have impinged a bit as think they schedule a number of them.

Definitely will return but...

FINDING the plantation is a real barrier for many non-area residents, so allow plenty of time for the trip. We were in a carriage house room -- lovely, clean, spacious and well-appointed. Be forewarned that if you are upstairs, there are NO ELEVATORS. Do not miss the guided tour of the property. It provides a better appreciation. Go to the Museum for even more background. The food is plentiful for the breakfast buffet, and the dinner was nicely presented. Southern fare overall with regional Creole/Cajun influence. There are many areas needing new paint, window washing, and rehab; however the lasting impression is favorable.

Sightseeing tip: In Hotel

Explore the surrounding area of Cajun country and the museums. Driving around the small towns in the area is fun if you enjoy history -- Plaquemine Lock and Iberville Museum in the old City Hall were unexpected resources. Be sure to see the video at both, esp. the story of the parish in the City Hall.
