Days Inn Slidell

didn't stay there much. lots of old run down stuf look like hand me down stuff .

I was looking for a cheap hotel to stay at, I went to a Starbucks, jumped online, and booked this hotel through Orbitz thinking it was a good deal. 45 minutes from New Orleans it was far from any traffic there may have been when leaving in the morning. Upon arriving, I was told (by the owner) that Orbitz hadn't charged me, that I was to pay at the front desk for the hotel room since that was how all other online booking worked there. So I agreed after being assured it was correct. I went to the room and called Orbitz shortly after to confirm, then spent a full hour on the phone with them (45+ minutes of which was on hold) until they finally got it taken care of and the hotel had to refund what they'd charged me. While on the phone with Orbitz, it came to my attention how bad the room was; I asked for non-smoking, and got a smoking room. There was a dead cockroach in the middle of the room, the sheets on the bed looked dirty and felt uncomfortable, fixtures were broken, there were zero open outlets in the room. When I went to the front desk to get my receipt, I asked if I could get my money back because I was disgusted with my service. I spent another 45 minutes arguing with the owner trying to get my money back and she only would settle for HALF by the end of it. Which I accepted since it was past midnight at this point. I was thoroughly disgusted with the experience at this hotel and would not recommend it to anyone. Luckily there was a better chain across the street that I jumped over to and was very happy with. Orbitz customer service was helpful but very slow.
