Sam's Town takes pride in its accommodations and because of this pride, no detail is left untouched. The 514 rooms and suites in our 23-story hotel tower each have upgraded amenities. Two-room Magnolia suites exist on each guest floor. The 23rd floor houses a number of multi-room suites, ranging from 1,000 to 1,500 square feet. Experience the charm of an authentic Southern riverboat while playing your favorite casino games. The "Shreve Star" was created to look like a 19th century paddle wheeler, incorporating bright colors and the charm of the South. The boat was built in Morgan City, Louisiana, and was moved to Shreveport and opened in February 1995. The "Shreve Star" consists of three uniquely styled casinos, each housed on a different level. With three choices available, all players have the option to discover which casino best fits their desires.

Unclean room, manager didn't care
Susan Dec 24, 2009
Was excited at the rate I got for a Christmas trip. The room was comfortable and I slept great. However, neither phone worked ... properly, there was a soiled coffee cup in the bathroom. I had to call for a coffee maker. The tub area had not been cleaned. Worst of all, when I complained at checkout the manager on duty did not offer anything to make it right. [...] I like the hotel overall and she could have won me over but she didn't bother to try. I will not stay there again [...]

Nice room and view, poor buffet
Gayle Dec 7, 2009
Very nice rooms, especially the bathroom, comfortable beds. Large selections on the buffet, but the quality was poor, prime ... rib inedible, gumbo at room temperature, etc. Not worth $20.

Fantastic room
Shorty Nov 11, 2009
Our experience was very good. The casino could be upgraded; but, my husband had appointments in Shreveport and we stayed at ... Sam's Town. Very nice room (16th floor overlooking the river) and very clean. We don't normally spend the night when we come to Shreveport; but, we will definitely be staying at Sam's Town again.

My husband called and told me we were going to take the Northern route (I-20)to Alabama in the future. He was really ... impressed with the room. We usually go the southern route (I-10) and stay in Biloxi but he was really impressed with Sam's Town

Just Like Vegas
Liv2cruise Sep 8, 2009
We were very surprised at the size of our room. It was huge and the bathroom was even bigger. The only thing that bothered ... me was they charged $9.95 for 24-hour internet service. We weren't going to be there 24 hours and the hotels we had just previously stayed at did not charge at all. The slot machines were VERY tight. An old man fell down the escalator while we were there and hotel personnel handled this very quickly and professionally. However, I'm not sure if I would stay there again or try one of the other hotels.

We love Ralph and Kacoos Restaurant, and it is very close by - actually just over the Texas Street Bridge and near the Boardwalk. If you love seafood with a Louisiana twist, be sure to stop by. Be sure to get a cup of their seafood gumbo while you're at it!
--Happy Travelers, Fort Worth, Texas Aug 7, 2009
Must eat at Smoking Joe's instead of buffet. Also take drinks with you to the pool. Have to go back inside hotel on 1st floor to purchase drinks, even sodas and water.
--Milk Pro, Baton Rouge, LA Jun 22, 2009
The buffet was great, not to mention the half off price for 50+ year olds.
--mel action mom, san antonio texas Jun 14, 2009
The hotel was wonderful, but the actual casino was really small so we walked right next door to the El Darado Casino that was mauch more fun.

Poker players -> only two poker rooms in S/BC nowadays - El Dorado and Horseshoe. Horshoe is bigger and regularly spreads 4/8 limit and the regular no limit. El Dorado did not have a 4/8 game going the 2 days I was there, but it is RIGHT next door to Sam's, so I walked back and forth. The two poker rooms are equally as smoky, since there is only a 6ft partition separating them from the rest of the casino floor.
--Ryan, Austin, TX May 22, 2009
The ElDorado is next door and we enjoyed their casino more.
--William, Seabrook Aug 28, 2008
Clubs, other casinos, restaurants
--Terry, Opelousas May 22, 2008
Stay here if the room is cheaper than the El Dorado hotel...if not, stay at the El Dorado because the casino there is better.
--Eduardo, Dallas, TX Apr 23, 2008
Best breakfast was at cafe next door in El Dorado
--Sonja, USA Mar 15, 2008
your downtown Shreveport. Good shoping good food. easy driving distance to malls, good dining at Jans Catfish. Also Ralph & cacoos is close by.
