--Steph H., Birmingham, AL Nov 23, 2009
If you are site seeing and want to go to Café du Monde and the French Market area which takes about 25 minutes to walk to, instead of taking a cab you can take a trolley straight to it. There is a stop just 3 minute walk south on Julia st as if you were going behind the aquarium and the River Walk Mall. This trolley runs from the French Market to the Convention Center and only costs $1.25. (But make sure you have exact change as they will only give you vouchers for future use if you don't have change.)

The hotel was nice, very convenient - five minute walk to the Convention Center, 10 minute walk to the edge of the French ... Quarter. The internet fee was over $10 per day and the connection was slow (about 1 MB/sec - usual cable modem is about 5 to 10 MB/sec)

Good place to stay
Kelly Oct 30, 2009
I stayed at the hotel with two coworkers to attend a Conference. At first 1 of the 3 rooms was not acceptable as it had an ... overwhelming mildew smell. We were able to change rooms to one that was acceptable easily. My King size bed was very comfortable with nice white high quality sheets. The bathroom was clean and my room was of decent size. I would have liked to have had a refrigerator in my room. Unfortunately I did not discover that I could request one until the last night of my trip. I was also disappointed that there was no continental breakfast

Jilly Bean Oct 23, 2009
The rooms were nice and clean. Staff were friendly. During my stay on the 1st night, the light switch shorted out and I had ... only lamps with no overhead lighting. The alarm by the bed was not reset and it went off at 4am. . . . 20 mins later after I fell back asleep, the fire alarm went off for about 10 mins! This was very annoying. The room service food was just average. I got a deal for the room and definitely am glad b/c in no way would I have paid the full asking price to stay here!

Beware of the Keeper of the Keys
Lesson Learned Oct 20, 2009
Everything went well until housekeeping began knocking on doors and yelling "housekeeping" at 9:00 on a Saturday morning. ... Check out is at noon. I felt rushed to leave the hotel. I placed a 'do not disturb' sign on the door and took a shower. Would you believe housekeeping entered the room anyway (verified)? I checked out of the hotel and found all of my cash missing from my purse. Housekeeping? You betcha but the hotel will never admit to it. Nor were they willing to say sorry or please stay with us again. Unless you are willing to take your money with you into the shower, don't stay here. Watch out for the mouse traps under the beds also.

Super comfy, great location
Andria Oct 6, 2009
Our first trip to NOLA and we couldn't have picked a better location to stay while we went exploring. The hotel was very ... easy to find and is within walking distance of almost everything: shopping, nightlife, great food, and the streetcars. We just bought a few day passes and used them to get around the city. Wyndham is also right across the street from Harrah's Casino and Drago's (you have to try the Chargrilled Oysters!). The FREE continental breakfast that was offered with our online booking included only a tea/coffee and a choice of bagel/croissant. Nothing too fantastic there but we found some great breakfast spots- Dante's Kitchen and the Ruby Slipper were both excellent. Another must is Cafe Du Monde (coffee and beignets) which is really easy to get to from the hotel on the Riverwalk Streetcar. The Wyndham had a big comfy king bed for us, very clean and elegant rooms, good water pressure, and excellent customer service. Check in took less than 2 minutes and the valet staff was amazing- the valet staff basically served as our concierge and they had answers for all our questions. We also called housekeeping for extra towels and they were delivered within 5 minutes. Impressive! The GM of the hotel, on the other hand, was surprisingly quite rude and took a prime valet spot for his BMW right in front of the hotel during a busy Sunday, glared at my boyfriend and I when he walked by, and dumped his keys off to the valet without even acknowledging their presence. It's too bad he doesn't have more appreciation for his great staff! My only other disappointments were that there was no safe in the room and the parking situation was not ideal. There is a small lot next to the hotel where about 10-20 cars can be held- it is not fenced in. The secondary lot is about a mile from the hotel and is also not secured. Our car came back to us in perfect condition, however, and we would definitely stay here again- it's just too bad that this city is so crowded that valet is the only parking available. We would have liked to use that money we spent on the car to stay another night in the city!

Quiet Luxury Downtown
Jeanne Oct 1, 2009
I was there on business and the hotel is very convenient to the convention center. The rooms are very quiet, clean and ... comfortable. The staff was very friendly and courteous and room service was excellent -- great well priced food that didn't take too long to deliver. In fact my breakfast was early! The only downside is that the tv didn't have to many channels, there was no fridge/mini bar and the exercise room was very small and warm with no way to adjust the temperature.

Me Sep 1, 2009
I spent time in the popular tourist locations in new Orleans. They hotel did not really offer anything spectacular. It is ... mostly just a room to sleep in, cable was VERY limited, site said internet was available for a small fee but its outrageously over priced and there is ONLY valet parking that is 32.00 dollars a day. I spent a weekend in the Platinum Hotel in Las Vegas and it was time and money well spent. I especially did not like that the rooms had bed bugs, we had bites all over by the time of check out.

Weekend visitor Aug 23, 2009
The front desk was great, check-in took only a few minutes. Very friendly front desk staff. The bell men we very friendly ... and good at giving directions. The restaurant had a good selection on menu. The prices were reasonable. There a a local mall across the street, food court with local menus and souvenirs, about 4 blocks long. Cruise ships were not for. It was an excellent getaway hotel for me and the wife. Yet, it was in walking distance to good food shopping and sightseeing. There is free wireless, and if you forget the laptop, there is a free desktop wireless in lobby.
