Expected more and better...

No parking lot, only valet parking ($28.00 extra charge). When I picked up my car, everything had been moved: outer side mirrors, back view mirror, steering wheel (pulled down...!?), driver's seat had been pushed back and tilted up as well, the back of the seat was completely down as if someone had slept in it... I had to adjust everything back to the way it was, before I could drive away. Not happy about that at all. No small refrigerator in the room. No coffee/breakfast area in the hotel, and no complimentary breakfast included in the price. Very noisy street. On the other hand, room was clean, and personnel was very nice, polite and helpful.

quiet refuge near the French Quarter

I needed a room while in New Orleans for a conference. Most hotels would have charged over $1000 for 4 nights. This hotel was one of the few that cost under $100 a night. The room was on the small side, but quite comfortable for me. It was on Poydras Street, which made it easy for me to walk down to the Convention Center, a pleasant ten minute walk each morning. It was nice to be on the edge of the French Quarter, an easy walk from Jackson Square, without having to be in the noise and chaos of the street party scene. There were delicious and affordable food vendors and free music in Lafayette Square, a park right behind the hotel, on Wednesday evenings. The staff was friendly and helpful. I don't need a lot of amenities, but I enjoyed their free wi-fi. They brought a small frig to my room when I asked for one. I was able to print my boarding passes in the lobby downstairs. It was easy to take the Airport Shuttle there and back. For me, it was a great location in the city, a good value and a quiet refuge.

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

Ask the hotel staff about free music/festivals in the city. Great restaurants often have food vending stands, where you can get a nice little portion of DELICIOUS New Orleans cuisine. I got a tasty little bowl of shrimp and grits for $6 and ate it in the park, listening to live music on a beautiful spring evening, instead of waiting two hours for a table at a French Quarter restaurant where I'd have paid over $25 for a meal and gotten more food than I wanted.

Whitney Wyndham

It was ok, parking is terrible, the hotel is outdated, one vending machine. They need to upgrade, parking might be difficult, but somehow, someway they need to improve it.

Great location for Mardi Gras. Rooms were clean and fresh but could use updating. A little disappointed that the restaurant was not opened on Sunday night.

A good value hotel in a great location

You can't beat the location of this hotel. It's in walking distance of most of the places you'd want to go in New Orleans: the riverwalk, the convention center, the French Quarter, museums and aquarium, and great restaurants. The room rate was very reasonable considering the location and the valet parking was well within norms for a downtown hotel. I've paid far more for far worse than this. There were a few noticeable cost-cutting measures that stood out and seemed out of place though..... a hotel like this should be providing glass drinkware and real coffee cups/mugs rather than paper cups. And the bathroom, while spacious, really should have had it's own wastebasket. Little things, true, but they stand out in the context of what otherwise would be a first-rate room.

Good Location, Good Value

The hotel is a few blocks from Canal street and about 10 blocks from Bourbon street. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel is located on a very busy street, so the noise will likely wake you up pretty early in the morning.

Bare minimum hotel.

We expected more for what we paid. Old and bare minimum furnishings. Could not find a vending machine. Quite small room. Front desk gal very friendly but other staff lacks knowledge of area. We asked directions and the guy couldn't assist us.

Very nice

You always expect the best with Wyndam hotels and this one does not disappoint. We loved the fact that it was an old bank that was converted over to the hotel. The room was clean, and comfortable. The beds in Wyndam's are always comfortable. The only disappointments were other guests that were loud during the night, and our room didn't have a view (just of the alley). The attached restaurant was good too. The inside/outside of the hotel were beautiful with the marble, the carvings and the old bank vault still on display.
