Historic New Orleans luxury hotel home of famed Sazerac Bar
The Roosevelt Hotel New Orleans was one of the city's first luxury hotels, built in 1893. The hotel has had a storied history under several different names. The hotel has recently undergone a $145 million restoration and is part of the Waldorf Astoria Collection of hotels. The Roosevelt Hotel New Orleans retains its historic character and charm but offers guests modern comforts and conveniences. The hotel has been favored by the famous, including Louis Armstrong, Cab Calloway and the politician Huey Long.Highlights
- In-house Guerlain Spa
- Jazz brunch served on Sundays in the fabled Blue Room
- Home of the famous Sazerac bar
- Complimentary rooftop pool and fitness center
Rooms
The Roosevelt Hotel New Orleans offers 135 suites and 369 rooms elegantly appointed in a refined style with dark wood furniture with rich fabrics throughout. All rooms are outfitted with a full complement of amenities, including radios with MP3 connections. There are no coffee makers but coffee can be ordered via room service. Suites offer additional living space. The Waldorf Astoria Suite provides 24-hour butler service.
Features
Legend has it that Louisiana's notorious governor Huey Long pushed for the 90-mile highway that connected the state capitol to the hotel's Sazerac Bar, home of that storied cocktail. Today, the Sazerac Bar still pours a perfectly-wrought libation in an atmosphere reminiscent of the 1920s and 1930s.
The Guerlain Spa uses a full line of products from Guerlain Paris. There are 10 private treatment rooms, a couples suite, VIP rooms and hydrotherapy facilities, as well as a salon and makeup services.
Dining
The adjacent fine dining Sazerac Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Chef John Besh presides over Domenica serving fine Italian cuisine from local ingredients nightly. Guests enjoy coffee and sweets from Teddy's open daily. Visitors relaxing at the rooftop pool can order light meals and beverages from the Rooftop bar. The Blue Room serves Sunday jazz brunch and is available for private events.

Awesome location!
We were at a family wedding and the event was at the hotel, so it was very conveninient to stay at this location. The staff ensured a great service all around. The location was great to walk around the French Quarters. Check in and check out was a breeze.

Wonderful Hotel
The hotel did a wonderful job of renovations of the old hotel that was previously at this location. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was a bit small but the bed was very comfortable and the room was well kept. It ranks with me as one of the bast hotels in the city.

Fabulous
The hotel was gorgeous & luxurious & indeed felt like a step back into an era of elegance & grandeur. The service of the staff was great. The only thing I can think of that was off were a couple of dirty looking towels in with the fresh supply. They may have been stained.

Short walk from hotel
Several people had recommended the Red Fish restaurant but when we concluded our seminar for the day & headed down to Bourbon Street on a Friday night there was a 45 minute wait. We figured we'd just walk around & take in the sights but decided to check out La Bayou just a bit down the street & they had a table for our party on the balcony upstairs. The staff was great and everything was delicious. It was a great time & we'd definitely recommend it.

The Roosevelt New Orleans
Before we left we read quite a few negative reviews of the Roosevelt and were concerned, having stayed there now I must say that the folks who wrote those bad reviews are either petty or mad. This hotel has been beautifully restored, the rooms are very clean, tastefully done and quite comfortable. The staff is very attentive and very friendly here, one lacks for nothing. The location just outside of the French quarter is convenient for walking or taking cabs or streetcars. I would surely stay there again and would surely recommend others to do so.

Roosevelt New Orleans
Roosevelt is a very nice hotel. Most of the staff was first class. Unfortunately we had to return home a day early. [...]Another beef, put some pens in the rooms and maybe a coffe maker and why does the internet need to cost $13 a day and parking $38 per day! That's ridiculous.

Hotel is OK .....
Stayed here for Mardi Gras. Great location - but the constant nickel and diming for minor things is annoying. A charge to have a UPS sent to me - and handling charge added to send a package - even though it was labeled and charged to my UPS account - drove me nuts. Housekeeping service was spotty - if you weren't ready when they were your room wasn't getting done. And a daily internet charge ??? Just about everywhere I've stayed in the last year has gone to free internet. On the plus side the place looked very nice.
