Good hotel
I like the hotel, it was clean and quite on Jazz Fest weekend. One word to the wise, the elevator only goes to the 7th floor, so if you don't want to walk up the last flight of stairs specify that you do not want a room on the 8th floor. I didn't mind it, nice views and cool arched window made up for the short walkup. Location is excellent for French Quarter or CBD.

Short walk from hotel
Take a stroll down to 613 Royal Street and eat in the courtyard at the Court of two Sisters. Good food, nice atmosphere, moderate price ($35 + meal).

Weekend Getaway
The room was filthy, dried vomit on the wall. The air conditioning didn't work and you could only get internet access if you went down to their great room. It was noisy and the staff was rude. I would not recommend this hotel, nor would I stay there again.

BedBug Bitten
Surprisingly Bad
I and my wife stayed here for the Final Four 2012. We read the reviews sumitted earlier but it was the only lodging available. The previous reviews are absolutely correct. The lobby and floor smells faintly like the sewer. We had bed bugs attacking us all night. The sheets on the bed had hair on them and obviously werent changed. Underneath was a mattress pad with large yellow stains. And to top it all off the staff wasnt friendly at all...kinda like they didnt like working there and had no pride in the hotel. One positive thing we can say is that the bellhop and guys outside were cool and helped us get a cab. Location is good too So DO NOT STAY HERE...YOU WILL REGRET IT...UNLESS you dont have a choice like us

Cotton Exchange Hotel POOR REVIEW
The staff at the front desk are RUDE. the amenities were awful, ice machines did not work. One thin cover and a sheet covered the bed, the sink backs up with SEWER WATER, when the room next door runs their water, and the lobby smells like a combination of sewere and mold. The $30 valet parking that was advertised is bogus and i got told by the front desk that they didn't care what was on their website. So, Do not stay there, what a waste of money!

No AC for Our Entire Stay
Upon checkin our room was 80 degrees. We went back to the front desk and they moved us to another room. Still 80 degrees. Front desk told us to wait for 45-60 minutes and it would cool down. IT DID NOT! Next morning we were told that techs were working on it and it would be fixed within an hour. That afternoon it was still hot and we were told that it was nearly fixed. IT WASN'T!! The AC never worked the whole time we were there. It would have been more comfortable to have either slept outside or in the car. I would have moved to somewhere else if I had known there would not be any AC for our entire stay. RUINED THE ENTIRE TRIP TO SWEAT ALL NIGHT AND WAKE UP EXAUSTED IN THE MORNING. Take a shower and you were covered in sweat before you could even get dressed and get out. Horrible Experience, but maybe they got it fixed after we left.

Won't stay there again!
Southern hospitality is dead at the Cotton Exchange Hotel in New Orleans! The staff, with the exception of one manager, Elbert, were rude and to say not helpful would be a gross understatement. As is my way I would greet them with a smile and a hello only to be glared at. If I've ever felt unwelcome it was during my stay last week during Spring Break. Also, we had no soap in our room so when I asked them to send some up they handed me a credit card size bar of soap for the three of us. Luckily we had brought some body wash with us! Everytime we needed a towel we had to ask as they were not replaced as part of regular housekeeping which was non existent. Oh did I mention the air conditioning went out and it was about 80 degrees in our room.

It a hotel!
Well the check in took approx 30 min. We expressed our time constraint however the staff could not understand the email sent to my smart phone I showed them. The pool was closed for repair. Upon entering the room we noticed it pretty warm. Called front desk and they notified me then rather upon check in that indeed the a/c was not working. Just not a very savvy staff and no flits for being the historic cotton exchange. Was a value and I guess I may have gotten what I paid for. However no one after a long day wants to be placed in an uncomfortable room.

THis was the worst hotel I ever stayed in
I think you should give me a refund..Travel companies have stained their reputation by recommending this hotel. This hotel was dirty, allowed smoking in all areas, had horrible service and is just a bad place!!

A few blocks from Bourbon street, trolly is right outside.. Could not have asked for a better location. With that said, room service wasn't great: sheets were dirty, found bugs on the mattress, thank you traveling bed sheet cover.
