Located just one block from the historic French Quarter, the Cotton Exchange Hotel's decor pays tribute to the colorful palettes created by Degas and his fellow Impressionists. In addition to high ceilings and large windows which allow for vast amounts of natural light, all 223 rooms are decorated in vibrant colors, and the walls are hung with reproductions of Impressionist paintings.

Getaway Weekend

The staff was awesome! I was in a hurry checking in and they were ready to respond right away! The room was perfect although a bit cold and there was no comforter. Besides that, everything was great and I really enjoyed my stay!! I would definitely go back!!

The price you pay, is what you'll be getting.

Hotel service is average. The hotel staff are terrible even if you're just calling to get access to their wifi. If you want a hotel at a cheap price and near the casino, Bourbon Street, Canal Street, and the other popular street, Decatur, then this hotel is within walking distances of the places you are wanting to go. The room cleanliness needs big improvements. Even the TV remote looks dirty and needs to be cleaned under the bed. If you are only staying for the night and out and about during the day time, then this hotel would suit your preferences. For a couple's mini vacation spot, this hotel did not met our standards.

Great Location and price

This hotel is great for staying downtown near all major sites and not spending a fortune. High ceilings and very nice furniture. The only thing missing was a breakfast service, but for the price you can afford you own breakfast. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

Quick getaway

Room was great. It had everything needed like Iron and ironing board, blow dryer and coffee maker. Staff were great and everything was very clean. One block from french Quarter. Yes, the elevator was slow but what the heck we were on vacation. Continental breakfast would of been nice and made our stay perfect.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

Don't go to Cafe du Mond for coffee. They have so many people going there that the service is bad. We were made to order our coffee and donuts while the waitress bussed the table . Then she came back and was cleaning and putting more napkins while we were eating. We found the same coffee and pastry at another place that was alot better. The original owner would be ashamed!

Go for it!

You may think it's risky to pre-pay a hotel stay at a place that isn't a chain with known qualities, but don't hesitate to book the Cotton Exchange. We loved it! Couple of tips - try to get a street-facing room on a lower floor... there are some rooms with no windows at all! And the elevator is ridiculously slow, so if you are on a lower floor you can just take the stairs most times. Our room was large with very high ceilings, a gorgeous window and plenty of comforts.

Do NOT book the Katrina Tour. This a huge waste of time and money... a very long drive way outside the city and very little new information. If you want to see the devastation of the hurricane, just drive your rental car to Fat's Domino's house, right in the middle of the 9th Ward, where you will see homes still abandoned, and the reconstruction being funded by superstars like Brad Pitt and Oprah Winfrey.
