The old granite structure of the Historic Cotton Exchange Hotel was initially built to be a cotton exchange, but has since been remodeled into the Historic Cotton Exchange Hotel right in the heart of the downtown NOLA business district. The structure is registered as a National Historic Landmark, so a nostalgic feeling pervades the air. The high ceilings, vintage furniture, antique-style French artwork and mystique suit the Cotton Exchange Hotel perfectly. Travel-lusters will enjoy the comfortable beds and a tasty complimentary breakfast for early risers. The rooftop pool provides a great place to relax while enjoying the rooftop garden, which is a fine vantage point for gazing out over historic New Orleans and the famous Mississippi River.

good location for New Orleans

The room was clean and adequate, once you found your way. Hotel undergoing renovation. Some elevators out of service. The hallways sorely need renovation. My roommate was coming from another state and arriving before me. I called hotel and told them to admit her to the room in advance of my arrival. They agreed. However, when she arrived, they kept her sitting in the makeshift registration area for two hours! She arrived at 2:00 pm, I arrived at 9:30 pm. Hotel clerk would not allow her to leave her luggage in the registration area. Therefore, she could not visit New Orleans on her own. We left on a cruise the next morning. When I complained the next morning, the manager looked on the computer, and there was her name with a note to let her in the room. The clerk had said my roommate could not be admitted to the room without me. Not a good experience.

Great location for value

Under construction. Great location. Staff needed little touch up on customer service skills. Nice size rooms but put a down low and it stayed warm/cool.

Very Disappointed !!

Very disappointing!! NO HOTEL PARKING !! Was given a choice to park at the hotel next door for $16 per day !! Hotel appliances, (t.v., microwave, mini refridge, etc). very old & dated. Bath room sink plugged up/ slow draining. Hotel house keeping bust into room @ 9:05 am announcing "house keeping" as she's entering the room, all while my wife & I lay nude...had to yell & tell her that we are still sleeping. Would NOT recommend anyone to stay there..and this is my 1st time ever writing a review..

decent place for the price

The price was good for the location but other than that it was anything to write home about. Room was kind of musty.

Nice getaway

The price of the hotel was good considering the location, amenities, etc. The staff were kind and helped in any way they could! Certain parts of the room were a little dirty (carpet very stained etc.) but overall I have good experience

Good location, decent deal

We come to New Orleans often, and I like staying in this area (CBD). The Cotton Exchange Hotel has everything you need to feel clean and comfortable in a city that can really wear you out. There is a pool on the 6th floor that was open even in December. I didn't dare swim, but it was a kind of cool little area for hanging out. This location is great, walking distance to the Quarter and lots to check out in the CBD and Warehouse District as well. Self parking is only $16 per day, and very convenient. Also, the complimentary breakfast is great--waffles, boiled eggs, fruit, cereal, bagels, coffee, and more.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

There are great restaurants nearby, we love Domenica on Baronne just around the corner. But when you are three sheets to the wind and need some late night home cooking, Daisy Dukes is right next door and the food is everything a party animal could want at 2am. And then you walk 20 feet to your hotel. Awesome.
