Great value in CBD

I was looking for a decent place to stay while in NOLA. I didn't want to break the bank, but also didn't want to stay at a noisy dive. The Blake is a great value for people like me who want a nice, classy joint for a fair price. Although certainly not luxurious, the room was clean, modern, and comfortable. I had a small room (single queen) which might be a problem for some, but I thought it was rather cozy and roomy enough. I was on the 8th floor, so the only city noise I would occasionally hear was the trolley running on St. Charles street. Bed was clean and comfortable. My only complaints were that the AC was incredibly noisy, and the shower head shot 7 or 8 weak streams of water in all different directions. The location is decent enough - very safe, and a short 5-10 minute walk to the French Quarter, 5 minute walk to Harrah's, and accessible by bus and trolley. I spent most of my time in Marigny/Bywater so I felt this was a little far from the action. However, if you're in town for business or for the French Quarter, this is probably an ideal spot.

Needs some TLC

The room and bathroom was a bit rundown and right off, we had to call for the ac to be fixed. The next day, the heat smelled. Because our room was on the side where the trolley runs, it was annoying at night. I would not stay here again.

okay if you're on a budget, otherwise spend a bit more and get a better place

Decent place, but underwhelming after seeing the reality which is not what you expect from the pictures online. Breakfast is not included like most places and the rooms have a musty odour. Not a hotel you can relax in or that would allow you to enjoy your stay because there were no lounges or public area apart from the lobby. If you strictly need a bed for the night, then this is okay, but then the price is a bit high for just that. I was not too happy with my choice - I'll take a higher price with some better options next time.

last minute Mardi Gras night

we loved the front desk staff, they went above and beyond to get us a room Ryan and the front desk manager! Mardi Gras parades were right in front of hotel, great location as we had children and were able to see parades and take breaks in our room. There was also a bathroom located in the lobby. They had security. Great stay that night!

Unhappy with stay
Lafayette, Louisiana

Should have stayed somewhere else.

The reason for my stay in New Orleans was for a family member's wedding. Was told by Valet parking attendant and front desk that it would take 15 minutes to get my vehicle. After waiting an hour it still did not show. Was given two different reasons for the delay. Long story short, i missed the wedding. Other family members stayed at different hotels in the area and had no problems gettting their vehicles. Ended up not having to pay for parking after making a scene in front of the hotel. Also if you like a hot shower do not stay here. Water would not get above lukewarm.

nice weekend trip

We had a great stay for the weekend. The hotel was literally within walking distance of everything: within blocks of bourbon street and a doable walk to the French Quarter as well. The hotel itself was average but the location is what makes this hotel special.

Great location - the hotel is not so good

This hotel was described as recently renovated. When I checked in, I mentioned this to the front desk clerk. She said that they were putting the finishing touches on some of the rooms. The first room I was given was totally unacceptable - dirty carpet with numerous tears, cigarette burns on the bathroom counter, gaping hole in the closet where the non-functional safe had been installed. After complaining, I was given a very small room that was in better condition. However, the bathroom wallpaper was peeling, and there was significant corrosion on the ceiling. I had paid in full prior to checking into the hotel. The clerk initially tried to charge me again for the full stay. When I presented paperwork showing the payment, she said that she needed to see my credit card for incidental charges. When I checked out, I confirmed that my bill was paid in full. However, I subsequently received a duplicate charge on my credit card for the hotel stay and an additional charge for some other item which I did not purchase. When I called the hotel, they acknowledged the errors and said that a credit would be promptly issued. Instead, they charged my credit card again for the hotel stay. I have spent hours trying to resolve the billing problem.
