I always stay at the St. Peter House every time I go to NOLA, but I am practically a local. If you are from out of town and experiencing New Orleans for the first time, this place will not be for you. It has a charm all its own. The staff is pretty aloof, but has always been helpful. The location is great! The rooms are not the nicest, but if you are truly enjoying New Orleans, you are never in the hotel anyway. If its your first visit, pick somewhere else cause you will hate it. But if you frequent New Orleans and are looking for a good value for your stay, you will love it.

St Peter House is very gay friendly. Most of the major gay bars are within walking distance. The 700 club across the street is the PERFECT place to sit down, have a drink, and plan your night.

better off sleeping in your car!
I was planing a girls trip and purchased this hotel based on it being close to Bourbon street and the price. Mistake #1. Never go cheap on a hotel! There is a creepy courtyard that you have to go through to get to your room, and ours was located up a steep staircase that we had to walk up. Once in the room, there was only a twin size bed and NO additional room to walk around in! There was an old school AC unit located ABOVE the high window and a rotary dial phone! No shampoo in the small bathroom and the comforter was dirty! We ended up forfeiting the money we spent on 2 nights and re-booked at a different hotel a few blocks away.

Good location. Nice price. Wish there was a chair in the room.
I enjoyed staying away from but close enough to the busiest streets in the French Quarter and being in almost in the residential area. The hotel staff were friendly. The room was very basic which was fine, but I wish there was a chair or sofa in the room so I could relax. They serve coffee and donuts but there are no chairs neither in the lobby or your room. And the AC in my room was extremely loud and installed way up high. Since there was no remote control, I ended up climbing up the chest to turn that off so I could sleep.

A walk around the residential area of the hotel was interesting and pleasant. Away from the loud, busy streets in the French Quarter, looking at individual houses in this area was something I enjoyed very much during my short stay.

Return to the Quarter
The location in the French Quarter is excellent. Having lived in the Quarter years ago, I did not expect a Hyatt. But this really needs work. A good face lift, paint, new tile, shower, sink, weeding patio, etc could make this an attractive B & B.

Cute coozy little spot
I stayed for the weekend while attending a Katy Perry concert wooohooo! The staff was sooo nice and helpful. The room was clean and cozy and the rooms could only be accessed through a locked gated courtyard which was cool it had a patio table and chairs which was nice to just hang out and chill. It was only a few blocks from Bourbon. I liked being able to park my own vehicle and get it when I needed it rather than have to pay a ridiculous parking fee and have to wait for valet. The parking garage they recommend was walkin distance down St. Peters and was very inexpensive. It was also very safe and secure. I will definitely stay here every time I visit New Orleans!

We picked this hotel based on price and location and it lived up to our expecations. It was only a 5 minute walk from Bourbon St and a 10 to 15 minute walk from the street car. The room had ice cold air conditioning and was perfectly clean. This is a very basic room with few amenities but if you want a safe, comfortable place to crash after a night on the town, it is perfect. The staff was friendly and accomodating, as well. The 706 Club bar across the street is a great place for a nightcap anf has the kindest staff.

NASTY, DISGUSTING,
At first site the hotel was better than expected because I did read the reviews and figured that I would give it a chance because I'm an easy going person. When we got out room, I was like ok, just go to the store get some disinfecting spray clean & it's all good. After cleaning cause lets face it that's to be expected in hotels these days we sat on the couch...literally a cloud of dirt came off the couch..we went to sit in a chair the leg fell off. Ok, we are here to party all we have to do is sleep...time to go to sleep the beds are not connected to the headboard so it falls down on us cause the headboard is to big for the bed and all we were doing was sleeping...we call downstairs about the bed & chair. Day 2, they replace the old broke chair with an even older unsteady chair, oh & the bed frame fell on us because we were not to move it from the wall, sorry I didn't know I couldn't use the plug behind the bed because it turns out that was one of the few plugs that actually worked. Whatever we put a sheet on the couch & the party continued cause all we had to was sleep & we were in town for the Essence Music Festival so we were hardly in our room. Ok, day 3 no problems. Day 4 the balcony starts to fall..literally slacks were falling in the street then it happened..mice started running across the floor...yes, MICE!!! We call the front desk and inform them the manager tells us that they have more important issues seeing that the balcony is falling & they can lend us their nasty, dirty, flea infested cat & walks away. We leave, the next day we go back & talk to the manager who was like it was a minor incident and was like whatever. Translation for me was yes, we know we have mice, yes, we took your money & so what. No offer of sorry, didn't call to see if everything was ok, no apologies, no anything. So, I'm from the Empire State & they got a taste of how we handle things up north..always a lady but I did get a refund!!! I forgot we were in a suite, so we were in supposedly the best room they had to offer! DON'T EVEN CONSIDER THIS PLACE!!! IT IS DISGUSTING AND THEY DONT CARE!! THAT NASTY, FAT, FLEA INFESTED CAT IS THERE FOR A REASON!!!! P.S. The neighborhood is pretty, a short walk to the cemetary where we latched on to a tour, the Park is close where we were able to enjoy a morning festival. So I would recommend the neighborhood but NOT THE HOTEL!!!

Great Location
The hotel is well located and the staff are friendly and helpful. It's far enough away from the music and commotion of Bourbon Street that makes it relaxing. The rooms are sparsely furnished(no chairs or tables)but everything else (a/c, lights and bathroom)worked. The matresses on the beds are very old and sag in the middle. We woke up with sore backs almost everyday. There is no internet available to the rooms except in the main courtyard and balconies. It's difficult to be on the computer for any length of time while you're hot and sweaty. The room was cleaned everyday and was bug free inside the room and outside. All in all a pleasant stay. I would recommend this hotel to anyone with some hesitation.
