Three beautiful 1830 townhouses in a residential part of the French Quarter, Soniat House is New Orleans best-kept secret. It will be your refuge and cater to your every sense; with picture-perfect rooms filled with a personal collection of French antiques and luxurious linens. With pretty wrought-iron balconies, this historic gem possesses a genuine genteel charm. This peaceful sanctuary exudes elegance, with an ambience that is timeless, serene and warm. Verandas and spiral staircases lead to private courtyards lushly planted with fragrant sweet olive and jasmine; the perfect setting for breakfast or your evening cocktail. Stroll leisurely to Jackson Square, see the artists displaying their work and as evening falls be sure to take in the legendary New Orleans jazz.

Old New Orleans

Valet parking. Room was old and small, but tasteful, clean and well maintained. Bed was very comfortable. Small TV needed updating. Favorite spot was the cool, shaded courtyard and fountain. Nice place to read morning paper with a cup of coffee. Coffee was complimentary first day, no coffee the second. Got to experience what it's like in the quieter, residential areas of the French Quarter.

Great Location, Charming N.O. style

This hotel is right in the French Quarter, but is just far enough off away from the action to feel quiet and secluded. There is a beautiful courtyard where you can have a small breakfast if you'd like. The rooms are charming with a traditional New Orleans style, with very high ceilings but without many modern amenities. If you are expecting a luxury boutique hotel, you may want to look elsewhere. But if you want to stay in real French Quarter townhouse with tasteful rooms, this is your place.

Soniat Stay

I have been to New Orleans more times than I can count. This small hotel is very elegant, quiet, away from the noise, no rowdies. It was built in the 1800's and retains the charm. I would recommend it.

Elegant home away from home

We have stayed here in the past and were not disappointed. Our room was beautifully decorated with antiques. A reading chair and nice lamps by the bed made for a relaxing time. The balconey, actually a gallery (balconey with a roof) had great wicker chairs that we enjoyed while having a glass of wine from the honor bar. The courtyard is lovely and secluded. The staff are charming and helpful. Clarice the cat loves to be petted but doesn't pester you. One of our favorite hotels in the world.

The Marigny Brasserie is close by and quite good. Also has nice Sunday brunch. Gelato behind the cathedral La Divina is really, really good.

The difference between old and antique

Location was great but that was the only thing this hotel has going for it. If you want luxury this is not the place. The rug was old and smelly, the tv was super small. and the elevator was a small box. This hotel definitely needs some updating, including new wallpaper and carpet. Staff was nice but accomodations were horrible.

Les Bon temps roule'!

We went to New Orleans for music festival. This was the first time I stayed in the French Quarter (usally stay on Canel Street). The location was terrific only negative was there was no room service (only service was for breakfast). The houskeeper and butler were terrific and the staff in general was very attentive. The room, the courtyard and the setting was an experience to remember. I can't wait to come back.
