The good, the bad, and the really ugly

Check in service was terrible. 3pm is the check in time we made it to the hotel at 3:32 and our room was not available until ... 5pm, and we didn't get the room we requested when booking the room. We specifically requested a room with a view of the French Quaters; however, we were on teh 9th floor with view of the boiler room. It was terrbile - just terrible. We have not intentions of staying there ever again. The Lobby area was very unclean the day we arrived. The video check out service was unavailable. We had to wait more than an hour to get our car from Valet upon our departure. People were wrapped around the building and all throughout the Lobby.

Not bad not bad - we spent around 100 bucks a night, and for the location, it was a heck of a deal - just a coupla blocks ... from Bourbon Street - trolley right in front of the hotel - clean rooms, friendly staff - was really a nice place to stay - only complaint was trying to get a drink at the main bar, but hey, it was busy and there are PLENTY of other places to get a beer. I would definately stay here again.

Good Location, Busy on Weekends
Jack Nov 17, 2009
Good location, right across the street from the French Quarter. The rooms were clean and the hotel was generally well kept ... but some maintenence is required. In our room two lamps had broken switches so we had to use the plugs. Also, there was some missing ceiling paint above the TV armoire that had appeared to have been that way for some time. If you have a car beware of the valet (the only choice) back up on the weekends. It twice took us close to a half hour to drop off and pick up the car on Saturday and this was on a normal weekend with nothing in town. They also charge $30 per calendar day for parking which is steep so factor that in too. The bar in the canervous lobby area had good service, friendly staff, and an energetic atmosphere. The entire staff of the hotel was friendly and helpful, and the hotel was pleasant enough, but for the reasons stated above I wouldn't rate our stay as better than average.

Great hotel with nice, comfortable rooms. This was the first time I've stayed at a top tier hotel and not had to pay $20 ... for daily internet service. They had a complimentary service that you could use. (Thank you Sheraton for realizing that the cheap guys are out-doing you in this area.) Keep up the good work! I'd definitely stay here again.

Do go eat at the Palace Cafe right in front of the hotel. It doesn't look that great from the outside, but it is wonderful from the inside and the food is great! Get the turtle soup or seafood gumbo, it is amazing!

Mother's Restaurant has a great Early Bird breakfast special, dirt cheap, and delicious. It's on the way from the hotel to the convention center. Olivier's in the French Quarter is also a short walk, wonderful Creole food at reasonable prices.

Talk to the concierge if you would like to visit a smaller more intimate restaurant with incredible food and they will steer you away from the tourist restaurants. Most of these hidden gems are well within walking distance.
