Good Location, Busy on Weekends
Jack Nov 17, 2009
Good location, right across the street from the French Quarter. The rooms were clean and the hotel was generally well kept ... but some maintenence is required. In our room two lamps had broken switches so we had to use the plugs. Also, there was some missing ceiling paint above the TV armoire that had appeared to have been that way for some time. If you have a car beware of the valet (the only choice) back up on the weekends. It twice took us close to a half hour to drop off and pick up the car on Saturday and this was on a normal weekend with nothing in town. They also charge $30 per calendar day for parking which is steep so factor that in too. The bar in the canervous lobby area had good service, friendly staff, and an energetic atmosphere. The entire staff of the hotel was friendly and helpful, and the hotel was pleasant enough, but for the reasons stated above I wouldn't rate our stay as better than average.

Try not to take the shuttle. It turns out it's only $18 flat rate to go to airport. My shuttle came and picked me up at 4AM for my 7AM flight. I had no bag to check and I had a boarding pass already. I ended up sitting in the airport for another two and half hours. Next time, I'll take a cab one hour before I take off and catch more Z's...

Great hotel with nice, comfortable rooms. This was the first time I've stayed at a top tier hotel and not had to pay $20 ... for daily internet service. They had a complimentary service that you could use. (Thank you Sheraton for realizing that the cheap guys are out-doing you in this area.) Keep up the good work! I'd definitely stay here again.

Overall comfortable hotel
amrodri Nov 3, 2009
I was there for a conference, so it was quite comfortable. The hotel staff was very helpful and since there were no place ... left on the club floor the day I arrived, I had to go to a regular room for one night, and they gave me a 30$ credit on my room for that night as well as a bottle of wine! The only thing I would say is that in both rooms, the TV was not clear, and that the mattresses were not as comfortable as other Sheraton hotels I have been to (they were a bit harder). It was an older hotel, and I think the rooms were not so sound proof. I could clearly hear the conversation of my neighboords (they were not screaming, just a normal conversation) and the sound of doors slamming in the night or early morning made it difficult to have a completely restful night. But overall the room was comfortable. There were some bizarre smells in some parts of the hotel, but I think it is because of the high humidity of New Orleans.

Do go eat at the Palace Cafe right in front of the hotel. It doesn't look that great from the outside, but it is wonderful from the inside and the food is great! Get the turtle soup or seafood gumbo, it is amazing!

Talk to the concierge if you would like to visit a smaller more intimate restaurant with incredible food and they will steer you away from the tourist restaurants. Most of these hidden gems are well within walking distance.
