not good
The Sheraton had erratic service. Some staff were amazingly helpful, others incredibly difficult and unpleasant.

Get there early!
We were completely dissappointed with the Sheraton. Prior to leaving our home, I called the Sheraton to check on and ensure our room and reservation would be ready, and that we would be a late arrival that day. They assured me that our room was set. When we arrived, they told us that pre-paid rooms are NOT guarrenteed, and that we would have to settle for a lesser room until our room type opened up. That happened the next day. All others that were checking in (which was around 9pm) were dealing with the same thing. Also after we settled for a lesser room, we went to the Pelican Bar for a quick drink and a little advise. We asked the bartender where we should eat at, she told us it was too late and eating at the hotel was our best bet. She seemed nice and spent time talking to us. Not ever being in New Orleans before we concurred. After sitting at the table for a 1/2 hour, I had to ask the bartender where a waitress was, she had to force a waitress in our direction. Our food showed up 20 mins later, and was cold. We left for Bourbon Street after, and found all types of highly rated restaurants still open. Oh and by the way, enjoy the $54.00 breakfast, which included 2 coffees, 2 OJs, 2 ham and cheese omlets, and cold fried potatoes. We were really dissappointed in a otherwise wonderful trip. Sheratons are normally better than this!

Overpriced, Bad Service, Bad Rooms
My wife and I stayed at the Sheraton on Canal during Jazz Fest 2009. I had done a fair amount of research on hotels in the French Quarter. First our issues We arrived and when I walked to the reception, the 4 people looked at me like I was from another planet, until I asked "is this where you check in?" Following that, the desk clerk was very polite. It was all going well, until we arrived at the handicapped accessible room by the elevator. The room smelled of smoke, and the bathroom looked awful. We returned to the desk (now it is nearly 10:30pm) where one clerk asked my wife if she had read "A Lesson Before Dying" and would she like to write his book report. This should give you some idea about the level of competence. The clerk helping us did not seem to understand that giving us a Club Level Parlor room with no bed, just a sleeper sofa, was a ridiculous idea. Instead of unleashing my discontent, I suggested he get a manager while I was out to a late dinner. After returning, the manager offered us another room and some modest compensation. She was quite pleasant and helpful. Our experience in the new room was slightly better, but my wife did ask me to get some Lysol prior to taking a shower. The walls are paper thin, as we heard everyone coming home from their night out. We both enjoy a good party, but were hoping to go to sleep before 5am. I stay in a lot of hotels, and this is below average. NOT Recommended, Good Location though!!!

Worst Stay EVER!!!!!!
I purchased and reserved a KING size bed; when I got there, they said since I didnt reserve it with them directly that they would not honor it and gave me a double bed. Said thats all they had for the night. The Front Desk agent was horrible about explaining anything to include I did NOT know there was a pool in the facility because she did NOT say anything about it, nor did she help with the rooms amenities like internet. I had a HORRIBLE stay there and WILL NOT BE be using Cheap tickets again at all for anything or using the Sheraton EVER AGAIN!

Worst Stay EVER!
This was my fisrt stay at the Sheraton in New Orleans. I lived in the area in past and travel back to the area quite frequently. First night, at 3 am water was began pouring from the ceiling in the bathroom. I called the front desk and they assured me that someone would be up immediately. Two hours later the water had stopped, but no one ever came. We were up all night and no one ever came or called. This is totally unacceptable. The next morning, no one knew what to tell me. Did I need to move rooms? Don't know. Is the problem solved? Don't know. The next night the hot water handle fell off the faucet in the bathroom. Called, again no response. [...] Anyway, this is not the place to stay in New Orleans. I moved hotels and was extremely pleased with the Bienville House. I recommend not picking this Hotel!

The worst hotel stay of our entire lives
Check in was at 3pm. We had to stay in lobby with luggage for 3 hours until room was ready. We missed out on parades, dining and sight seeing. We were charged twice for our room, plus things they make you pay for that they don't tell you when you originally book. We had to leave by 7am next day in order to be out by check out time. This hotel is way too expensive for the way that we were treated from the tine we walked in the doors. Never again will any of the people we vacationed with ever stay at another Sheraton hotel. They charge for a bottle of eater and coffee they provide in the rooms.Parking was outrageous.

Great Location but that's all
If this is a Sheraton I'll eat my hat. Upon check in keys didn't work waited thirty five minutes for maintenance and had to have new keys cut three times **Room- adequate in size and EXTREMELY comfortable beds. However, A/C had two settings either too warm or downright freezing. **Room Service-Ordered coffee for 9 AM delivery all three days we were there it never came **Pool- Is a slab of cement with about 10 lounges. No towels, no vending machines, etc **Fitness Center- $10 charge for a few machines..don't bother. **Charged for Parking ($30 a nite) for each night we were there..we didn't have a car!!! **Concierge-needed maps Concierge was NEVER at desk only a sign saying they would be back later. No maps provided and none provided in the room. Ended up buying one at the convience store across the street. **We paid additional to stay on the Club Level. Great view, Club room served stale breakfast items and charged horrific prices for small drinks. **Check Out-Couldn't do express check out because of the charges on my bill that weren't mine. Spent almost an hour checking out but they did remove the charges after some arguing. *****The good news is if your looking for a hotel with a great location this is it..within walking distance to the French Quarter, Cafe DuMonde, Jackson Square and great shopping. Just don't expect much in the way of service or amenities.*******

Not bad - once they actually let you check in.
When we arrived at 1:30pm our room wasn't ready, so we checked our bags and went into the quarter for some lunch. We left our number and were told we'd get a call when the room was ready. Nearly three hours later, still no call. We returned to the hotel and were told they didn't have anything available, still, on the club floor. They did, I have no idea - that took another 20 minutes of complaining and arguing. The beds are comfortable, the location is great, and for the price it's difficult to complain. Don't expect any frills, though. Even the fitness center is extra. They charge over $5 for half an hour of internet access in the business center, as well as for connections in the rooms. The Starbucks, conveniently located off of the lobby, is inconveniently closed after 5pm. Oh - and beware extra charges on your final bill. Apparently the beverages and snacks in the mini-fridge tend to shift about in the night, causing them to accidentally activate the refrigerator sensor which automatically charges your account with convenience items you didn't consume. Spooky.

Even in the relatively unscathed Quarter, it's best to look up restaurants and shops in advance and give them a call before you visit. Although a lot have reopened, many have moved.
