The good and the bad~

This was my first trip to New Orleans and I had a great time. The Hotel was beautiful and very clean. The house keeping is very noisy in the hall ways in the morning, and make sure to ask about large groups, because there was a teenage convention going on. The kids played in the hallways all hours and pushed all the buttons on the elevators to play up and down. Doors slamming all hours and I had to finally call security at 12pm sat. night. Then to top it off a woman with two small dogs checked in next door and they would not shut up. Thank God for Vodka!!!!!

Great Deal for Weekend Getaway

Really enjoyed the location and service. The Concierge gave good touring advice, and liked being able to access the lobby from more than one street. Housekeeping was slow, spent most of Saturday away from room and still it wasn't cleaned until after 3pm. Next time i will ask for earlier service.

Sightseeing tip: In Hotel

Take the Bayou Encounters Katrina Recovery Tour, you get a good tour of a lot of the city, a better understanding of life AFTER Katrina, and good service. They pick you up at the hotel and if they do not have too many people will drop you at a restaurant or shopping maul.

Nice Hotel....Good Location

Great Location if you like the nightlife aspect as it sits right on Bourbon st.,however,if you have kids traveling w/ you, then you should probably look elsewhere. The beds were very comfortable and the housekeeping was very good. The pool looked nice, but I never got the chance to try it out since it always started to rain before I got the chance. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room overlooked the Courtyard and we never heard any street noise, however,I can't speak for the rooms facing Bourbon st......Overall,a very good experience and I would happily stay there again!!!!

A Jewel on Bourbon

This was a magnificent hotel and I got engaged there with all of it gorgeous chandeliers and beautiful architecture both inside and out. We booked the hotel thru an orbtiz deal, but when we arrived they were out of the special deal rooms. I asked the hotel manager if we could have anything on the Bourbon Street side and they made no hesitation to giving us a lovely balcony suite room overlooking Bourbon Street! Bourbon can be a bit noisy at night when they close down the street to car traffic after 6pm, but if you enjoy nightlife and partying then its fine. We got the newspaper every morning on our doorknob and housekeeping was always attentive to our needs. We always enjoyed coming back from a long day of site seeing to a spotless and neat room! Also, the airline lost my fiance's luggage for a whole day and half, and when we left notice with the Royal Sonesta staff about our luggage issue, they were knowledgeable of the times it would get dropped off if found, and advised us that it would be delivered to our room immediately upon arrival. Sure enough, after we left for breakfast the following day we came back to his luggage in our room! The location is plum because anything you need is within short walking distance (banks, Walgreens, Decatur Street Shopping, site seeing tour ticket booths, restaurants galore). Definitely take a French Quarter tour on a horse and carriage which you can hop on in Jackson Square. Its was fun! This is one of my top 5 places to visit, I definitely will come back again one day.

The good, the bad and the ugly

the evening we checked in, there was no power. A storm had hit New Orleans earlier in the day. We checked in with glow sticks. The hotel was "attempting" to relocate guests the next day, but they were disorganized in trying to do so. We were told since our reservations were through oRBITZ, we should contact Orbitz. That is where the nightmare started. After 2 1/2 hours on the phone with orbitz and being tranferred from one operator to another, I gave up and found a hotel in which to stay. Orbitz did a terrible job of helping. I am disappointed in their service.

Great location, beautiful property

The Royal Sonesta is the PERFECT location for those who want to explore the French Quarter. It is close to some of the best restaurants in the area (from Arnaud's to Acme Oyster House), as well as within walking distance to Jackson Square, Moonwalk (by the Mississippi River), close to meeting spots of many walking tours, a short walk to the Streetcar to the Garden District, and yes...close to all the nightlife you can handle. We stayed on the R-level (VIP Floor in the Tower section) and although there was a large festival in town (Essence Fest), we did not hear a thing from the chaos on Bourbon Street when we chose to retire every evening. Room was beautiful, and complimentary buffet and nightly h'ors d'oeuvres are fabulous (think oysters, champagne, cajun shrimp)...however, the 4th of July breakfast was not provided as this was a holiday for the hotel (no one told us this at check-in though not a huge deal). They do offer complimentary continental breakfast for you if you wish on the days the breakfast is not available. Also, the 24-hour concierge is more like 16-hour concierge for the R Club (not available late at night or at least is not easily communicated to guests on the VIP floor). All in all, I was VERY satisfied and I am a VERY fussy person when it comes to my accomodations. Don't know what the experience is in the regular rooms, but from my impression they are well kept. Splurge a little more for the R-level - while they are still developing this service, I think it's worth it and will only continue to improve.
