Act Fast, this hotel can rightfully raise its rates soon

Forget all the negative reviews of the past - I picked Q & C because I saw the reviews brightening up after their recent renovation. They've done a terrific job - great rooms @ great rates with great staff @ a great location close to everything. Got a very sweet deal for my package, but now I've seen the quality of the place I can only advise my fellow travellers to act fast. It was my first time in New Orleans - absolutely loved it.

Uneven Experience

My husband and I booked our stay at this hotel many months I advance and we're excited about the hotel's promised hip, luxury experience. We found that the hotel achieved visually I creating an elegant, trendy getaway, but failed in other ways to "get the experience right," although they did work with us. Our room was very, very small, although the bathroom was pleasantly good-sized. We had issues with basics - the heating was off the first day, wouldn't work and had a burned smell, which they fixed quickly; then we had lukewarm water, not a luxury experience. That too, they eventually fixed. Finally the hotel's bar service was a bit off. That said the staff quickly worked to resolve our issues, comp'ed us free food/beverage to compensate, and even (at my husband' surging) refunded one night of our stay. While they were luxury priced, their service was not yet at a luxury level. We appreciated the fact that they worked to make the experience better, and think that simply seem to be suffering some growing pains (they were recently renovated). Overall an okay experience thanks to their working to alleviate some of their problems.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

We LOVED the Little Gem Restaurant/Saloon, a recently renovated restaurant/nightclub. An elegant venue, fabulous food, killer cocktails, and wonderful, traditional Jazz. Everything we could have hoped for in a romantic, music-filled, upscale setting.

Great service, room needs renovations

When we walked up to the front desk, the staff were so nice & pleasant. Love that southern hospitality. The room was clean & rustic looking. It was cool until we tried using the toilet. It wasn't working, so they gave us another room. This room had a working toilet but the room was very dim. There were small light fixtures on each side of the bed (one fixture was coming out). The bathroom door was a sliding door, but it wasn't wide enough. Whatever we did in the bathroom, all can hear. The key didn't work at time to get into the room so kind of inconvenient. The AC was loud so very tough to fall asleep & lastly, there was a leak in the bathroom through the ceiling. On a good note, they had an engineer fix the door so the key can work, they were knowledgeable about where to go in the city & gave great recommendations.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

The first pharmacy ever built was in New Orleans. This was a very cool place. I would recommend this tour.....it was only $5.
