The location of the hotel was the best for anyone interested in staying in the French Quarter. The hotel staff was very ... friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms were clean and serviced well by housekeeping. The only issue was that you could hear noise from rooms next to you and particularly above. It wasn't bad enough to keep you awake, but if you were awake, you could hear it very plainly. Other than that, the overall experience was great. If we get a chance to return, we would definitely use this hotel again.

Not all it's cracked up to be...
Disappointed couple Nov 16, 2009
My partner and I stayed here the night before we flew out of NOLA. We arrived very early (9 a.m.), knowing that we would have ... to wait until the afternoon to check in. The morning staff was helpful and friendly and checked our bags, promising to have the room ready in a few hours--ahead of their regular check-in time--which we thought was nice. However, when we checked back around 1:00 pm, they had not cleaned any of the rooms on our floor yet and seemed annoyed that we came back to take them up on their offer to check in early. I reserved a "Deluxe" room which was supposed to overlook the cortyard and have a Queen bed. When we finally did get to check in (around 5 p.m.) we ended up with a dirty room in the corner of the 4th floor, right across from the elevator. The bathroom smelled bad, the faucet fell apart when we used it, and the shower needed a new shower head and a good scrub. To boot, the room was incredibly hot and the fan did not work. The night staff and the staff the next morning seemed annoyed at our questions regarding restaraunts and getting a taxi to the airport. The next morning, the woman at the front desk actually refused to give me a printout of our charges for the room for the night. I was very unhappy with this hotel and would not stay here again. I was drawn in by the promise of it being steps from the Cathedral, but truly, it would have been better to stay elsewhere and walk. I do not consider myself very "picky" about acommodations, but this hotel was a MAJOR disappointment for the money.

First of all, we loved the staff! They are friendly and very helpful! The location was perfect, 2 blocks to Cafe DuMonde and ... Jackson square, and 2 blocks the opposite direction to Bourbon Street. The staff told me about a great grocery store the next street over that was very handy, fruit, liquior, anything you need. (It is suprising how nice that is) I have been to New Orleans 5 times and I will never stay anywhere else!

WILL NOT STAY HERE AGAIN
LaBomba Nov 3, 2009
This was the tail end of a business trip and wanted to stay somewhere with character on my last night. well, be careful what ... you ask for! here are the positves: the hotel is in an ideal location in the french quarter the staff was friendly & helpful (NOT HOUSEKEEPING) courtyard was beautiful and private free WIFI (however painfully slow) here come the negatives: room 202 room was super outdated and overpatterned horrible "water hose" like water pressure door lock jammed and locked us in for a while no real windows/don't open/and look like the ones in amityville horror HORRIBLE smelling room-burnt shrimp or hair? yeah..bad hammock like bed noisy room-garbage trucks are right outside your window at 4am! housekeeping at 8:45 am literally YELLING in the hallway and dropping glass and all kinds of stuff all over the floors. what part of "do not disturb" did you not get? can you not do your job without yelling to the other maids every 2 sec? in summary, although the rest of the hotel in the courtyard area looked charming..room 202 was awful. I've stayed at motel 6s for cheaper and better beds. I wonder how the other rooms in the back of the hotel look? In all honesty, I don't think i'll be back to confirm this. So, if you do plan on staying here, make sure you ask for a room in THE BACK THROUGH THE COURTYARD! the rooms in the building closest to St. Ann street are horrible.

The hotel is in an excellent location. In fact, its unbeatable. The main issues are: the interior rooms are windowless and ... thus incredibly dark. And the hotel was so busy that it took a long time to get service [such as having our luggage stored]. Overall, it was worth the stay for the price.

Great Handyman, one grumpy desk woman
Conference Woman Oct 5, 2009
One of the front desk woman was grumpy and rude, but the others were wonderful and accommodating. My sink stopper got stuck ... in the down position and the handyman/bellman who came to fix it was the most wonderful and gracious individual. I learned a lot about NOLA from him. The Room I had was 129, do not get that room. . . It's right on the street level by the street--the others are in the inner courtyard. There are constantly tours going by, so if you want to take a nap--forget it. It's REALLY noisy in the evenings in that room (other rooms are REALLY insulated from the noise). Friday it quieted by 10, but Sat night it was all night long. Not a constant din, but every so often, people shouting and yelling about every 30 to 60 minutes. The room was HUGE, the bathrooms gorgeous, the bed comfy enough, there were SO many towels, too. The inner courtyard tables were always available for chit chatting with friends. Don't expect much for breakfast. Juice coffee and not-that-great croissants. I've had worse though!

Interesting... but still beautiful!
cmeblom Aug 27, 2009
The hotel was super cool. The hotel has its own parking garage, but its $25 a night... which hurts a bit. We got a great deal ... thru cheaptickets on a single king bed room for only $58 so I can't really complain bc of the deal we got. However, if I had paid for price I may have had some things to say. There were no windows in the room... honestly didn't bother me because we stayed one night.. but I could see it becoming an issue. The bedding looked like a grandmas quilt. The room was pretty small, but it was accommodating. The common areas of the hotel make this place. The pool/courtyard area is absolutely gorgeous. There are several different eating/sitting rooms that are lined with windows if you want to get a view. There were obviously other rooms that had awesome double doors, but like I said ... we took the good deal since we stayed one night. So... overall I love this place. It has such personality! If you plan on staying a while or of you will be in your room a lot I would go for the exterior rooms, but if you are going to enjoy the outdoors of new orleans and want a good deal that is still relaxing and historic... this is your place.

For a traveler, this hotel is in a good location and the price found on orbitz was not that bad. Some downfalls are that ... interior rooms are BLACK at night and mornings because there is no light and there is some noise in the interior front rooms as well when people are walking through at night. But it was comfortable, clean, and worth the stay.

I had emailed the previous week requesting an earlier check in time before 4. Although they didn't make any promises they ... said they would see what they could do. We arrived at the hotel at 1:00, the lady at the front desk took my information and immediately handed me my room keys. The bell boy was right there to accompany us to our room with our luggage. We got the room right off the court yard with a four poster king size bed and 12 foot ceiling, just absolutely gorgeous! Our reservations were for a deluxe queen so we really lucked out. The manager of the hotel even came and entertained us with the history of the room. Everything was absolutely perfect, I couldn't have asked for more on my honeymoon.

everything is a short walk from hotel. You have to have the traditional beignets at Cafe Du Monde. And just hit a local eating spot for the best foods like the Acme Oyster House. Great food! Then, for some great live tunes, atmosphere and no cover, go to fritzel's jazz pub. Just walk around and take it all in.
