French Quarter Standout hotel with views, notable restaurant and bar
This former office building was transformed into a contemporary-style, 21-story hotel. The on-site Cafe Adelaide is named for the colorful Ti Adelaide Martin of Commander's Palace fame. The restaurant is run by the Brennan family. Swizzle Stick Bar serves high-class cocktails. Rooms are huge and boast endless amenities, such as city and river views, laptop-size safes, high-speed Internet access and local art. The Romanesque Piazza d'Italia behind the hotel is ideal for outdoor special events. There is 17,000 square feet of meeting space.
Highlights
  • Complimentary use of Fitness Center with indoor pool, whirlpool and sauna
  • Balance Spa also offers in-room treatments
  • Cats and dogs allowed ($25 fee, call for details)
  • Special weekly Bar Chef Table event at Swizzle Stick pairs cocktails with chef's selections (reservation required)

Rooms

The 285 oversized rooms and suites features spectacular city views and original work by local artist Harriet Blum. Guests feel contemporary luxury with marble baths, plush cotton terry towels, robes by Chadsworth & Haig and Lather toiletries.  All rooms are outfitted with a full complement of amenities including Keurig coffee makers and ergonomic executive desk chairs.  Some rooms offer a separate shower and tub and second televisions. Complimentary shoeshine service is a nice plus. Grand king suites are perfect for families and include living space with a sofa bed and a whirlpool tub with a window and television, double sinks and separate shower.

Features

Esquire magazine's breakout chef of 2009, Chris Lusk, leads the hotel's Cafe Adelaide. The café is named for a glamorous member of the 1950s and 1960s avant-garde culture in New Orleans. It serves innovative local cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  French press coffee and pain perdu are breakfast highlights. At Swizzle Stick, bar chef Lu Brow does party-girl Adelaide proud, reviving classic cocktails and using only freshly squeezed juices and housemade mixers. The hotel offers valet parking (fees apply).

Return to New Orleans

This was my first time back to New Orleans in a long time and the Loews helped make it a great experience. Near the Casino, French Quarter, Canal Street. The staff was the best. Friendly, helpful and go out of their way to make your stay better.

Fabulous four-day getaway!

We stayed at Loews New Orleans for our first trip to New Orleans and found it a most enjoyable experience! Our room was spacious, spotless and luxurious! All of the staff were gracious and most helpful. We interacted with Betty, Josh, and James as our concierges and they could not have been more patient and accommodating as well as informative. They steered us to the best restaurants that suited our needs. It was always a pleasure to speak with the staff of the hotel and they went out of their way to help out in any way they could. We would definitely return to Loews!

All was good, except the breakfast

All was good, except the breakfast restaurant staff was slow and inattentive. Otherwise, we had a very good experience.

Thumbs Up

It was great. They promptly got our bags out of the car & took it to be parked. We arrived early & couldn't check it but they kindly held our bags while we went to eat & even called me to tell me the room was ready. The day we checked out they also let us know the car was good until 4 and continued to hold our bags after we checked out so we could still peruse the city. The staff is extraordinarily helpful & friendly. The room was great, with an amazing view of the river. Also, we loved the coffee maker!!

We were there for Mardi Gras. That Tuesday, not many places are open to eat. So if you are searching, check out what is open that day before you walk around blocks & blocks searching for something that is open & affordable. We ended up going to the casino...which actually was delicious :)

A great option...

Loews is conveniently located between the Conference Center and the French Quarters, which perfectly served my needs, as I was attending a conference, but also wanted to experience the buzz of Bourbon St and some of the fine restaurants in the area. The hotel is classy, clean and fresh. After a week, I still never seemed to master the shower's hot water system: reaching only the extremes of temperature at a very high pressure, but I needn't complain as some of my colleagues staying elsewhere had no hot water at all. Overall, a good choice and worth the higher price tag.
