You arrive, and are met by uniformed bell boys and doormen... you enter and a greeted by a charming lobby (chandeliers and all)... the concierge and desk staff are very professional and helpful... rooms are just the right size for two people, even
though the occasional collision is inevitable. Beds are very comfortable, and there is TV and internet access...fully stocked mini-bar too...Bathrooms were clean and maintained...Be sure to checkout the rooftop deck with a pool where you can relax and get away from the craziness of Bourban street! This hotel is in the business district, so the french quarter and warehouse district are only a few blocks away- having said that, be prepared to walk at least 5-10 minutes to where you want to go... the streetcar which takes you up canal st to the city park is just around the corner too...and, like everyone else who has been, be sure to try the nightly offering of PB&J with iced chocolate milk - its wonderfully simple! Breakfast offerings here are fantastic too, but there are also dozens of cafes to try in the french quarter that have even better offerings!
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Short walk from hotel
The better places to eat are the less glamorous establishments... try Evelyns on Chatres, just off Canal... its cash only, but the Muffellata and Gumbo are some of the best around... or try Mothers (ask your concierge!).. Camellia's is an experience, and ask for Peanut! And a walk down Bourban St on a Sunday night is a must!
This hotel was beautiful. Located 5 minutes from the French Quarter, it's old world charm and modern amenities were a perfect combination. The staff was very professional and accommodating. Every night from 10-11 they have complimentary hot
chocolate and PBJ sandwiches, fruit and milk, which was a welcome sight upon our late arrival/check in. The rooms were spacious, clean and beautiful with wifi and a paper every morning. We loved our stay.
Hotel was selected as part of trip package. It's a beautiful old building, inconspicuously brought up to date. Staff is courteous, friendly and helpful. Food we tried was very good, but mostly ate outside the French Quarter (tourist trap). Much
better seafood in outlying towns. Room was attractive, spouse thought bed was too soft. One of the table lamps did not work, but really didn't need it, as there were sufficient lamps without it. Price was fair in view of ambiance and location. Enjoyed the stay, spent the days revisiting old memories of living in the area many years ago.
A quiet hotel a few blocks from the French Quarter. A nice place to unwind after the noise of Bourbon Street. A nice roof top pool with great views. The hot tub could use an upgrade to match the pool. The PB&J sandwiches are a nice touch. The WIFI
was spotty and a little slow. We would definitely stay here again.
We were so pleased with this hotel. The staff was exceptional. The decor was breathtaking. Truly a visual treat. The peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at 10:00 pm will keep us coming back to this wonderful hotel. Great pick, thank you.
I think this is the best hotel i have ever seen not only on the u.s. and also in Europe. the location was excellent and near every thing so we can go every where by foot. the hotel design is extraordinary as i felt that i was in antique palace
