“Belle of New Orleans” offers genteel luxury fit for the fab traveler

The best of New Orleans is only minutes away from this regal-looking hotel.  Le Pavillon was built in 1907 and restored to its original glory in the 1970s. It evokes the grand style of Napoleonic France. Top-hatted doormen welcome guests to a lobby filled with antiques and lit by 11 crystal and bronze chandeliers. An 1880s hand-carved bar, salvaged from one of Al Capone's Chicago haunts, is right at home in the Big Easy. This hotel is adjacent to the French Quarter and eight blocks from the Morial Convention Center. Bourbon Street and the Superdome are nearby.

Highlights
  • Member of the National Register of Historic Places
  • Rooftop pool and patio with sweeping views of downtown New Orleans and the Mississippi River
  • PB&J served with cold milk and hot chocolate nightly at 10 p.m.
  • Non-smoking
Rooms

The hotel has 213 rooms and seven suites, many appointed with antiques and collectibles.  All rooms feature handmade draperies, plush bedding, hand-carved mahogany armoires, 32-inch flat screens, automated mini bars, complimentary Internet and thick terry robes.  Hand-painted vignettes on the ceiling and ceiling fans distinguish deluxe rooms. Glass-enclosed showers with oversized showerheads are an added perk.

Features

The rooftop terrace is an urban oasis featuring a heated swimming pool, hot tub, private cabanas and dining under the stars. The award-winning Crystal Room serves breakfast -- including a bananas Foster waffle -- lunch and dinner in a palatial setting. Inquire about special wedding packages.

Historic Elegant Hotel

Excellent staff........friendly, and helpful. Location wise .....it's an $8 taxi ride to Jackson Square in the French Quarter...... or a 20-25 minute walk. Very few restaurants nearby. Hotel is very elegant, and generally impressive. Room maintenance could have been much better.......had problems with heating and A/C, and constantly running toilet. Notified front desk, and they responded quickly and professionally.

Perfect for our family

One of the best places I've stayed in New Orleans, and I go often! Last minute deal for a weekend getaway with kids, so location was far enough from the quarter and close enough to everything else! The staff went out of their way to make it a special experience for us (the PB&J buffet and hot chocolate every night sold us!), the rooms were clean and, while bathrooms were small (it's an OLD hotel) they were sufficiently clean and accommodating. Rooftop pool: fabulous and cozy. Breakfast brunch on Sunday was excellent and the piano player was a perfect splash of local flair. Loved this place and will go back again!

A Friendly Hotel

I stayed at Le Pavillon for three days on business. The hotel is situated in the Business District, but all major parts of New Orleans are quickly accessible, as are two Streetcar lines. The hotel staff are extremely friendly and the hotel is very attracted. I would definately stay there again.

As New Orleans "blocks" are much shorter than most cities, it is often cheaper and easier to walk to a destination rather than take a taxi or drive.

Great stay for BCS Championship Game!

My family and I had a great experience at Le Pavillon for the BCS Championship at the Superdome. It is so conveniently located for events at the dome or arena, and is an easy walk to the French Quarter. The hotel was at capacity the night before we got there, so understandably there wasn't a room available when we got there at 11:00 AM. Check-in time is 3:00 so we came back shortly before and the room still wasn't available. The attendant gave me free drink coupons for everyone in my party. About 25 minutes later the room still wasn't ready so a manager found me in the lobby and gave me 4 breakfast buffet vouchers ($80 value). The fact that they offered all that really made me more pleased with the hotel than if the room had been available at 11:00. Staff members of every level were extremely courteous and welcoming the entire stay. We had a deluxe room with 2 queens and it was very nice. I would recommend this hotel to anyone without hesitation.

If you're traveling to New Orleans for a big event, try to book at Le Pavillon as far out as possible. I asked about the rate during the dates of the SEC Basketball Tournament and I'd waited too long to get a good rate. Also, for a great dining experience try Emeril's Delmonico. It's just about a mile away from the hotel.

Almost there

I am impressed with the condition of the hotel, the rooms are nicely furnished. There is one major issue, and I do mean major. ANY CONVERSATION YOU HAVE IN YOUR ROOM, IS HEARD IN THE ROOM NEXT TO YOU. So we were asleep at 1:30 am and our neighbors come back to their room, and start talking, and these are people that just talk a little louder normally, but it is amplified coming into our room, and there is no sleep to be had until I went downstairs to the front desk, woke up the security guard, and complained to the manager. This happened 50% of the nights we were there, that we were awakened by noise in the hall or in the room next to us. I would have gotten more sleep on Bourbon St.

Room size and noise

Room size too small for two. Bathroom too small, no room to lay down accessories on vanity top. Walls have no sound insulation at all; you can hear every most intimate noise coming from the adjacent room like it is happening in your bed, not to mention talks, TV, everything else.

Making you feel welcome

A large hotel with a touch of a boutique hotel. Upon arrival there was no coffee machine in our room -- they arranged it immediately upon our request. Immaculate rooms and free WiFi all over, unlike other hotels nearby. Complementary 10pm treat for the guests and reasonable priced 'all you can eat' dinners. Highly recommended

Parking is a major issue for hotel guests in New Orleans. Easiest way is valet parking for $32-39 a day. Cheapest alternative - parking lots on Gravier Str. - one or 2 blocks from the hotel.

The hotel is absolutely elegant and beautiful! Every thoughtful amenity is provided, right down to the PB & J "late-nite snack" served in the lobby. The food served in their restaurant is excellent. Over-all a solid 5 Star gem.
