The hotel and rooms are clean and refined...I would normally expect to pay more than I did for this class of hotel. Location ... was good, most attractions within walking distance, or easily accessible by trolley car or taxi. I'd definitely stay here again. The only negative that I could point to was internet access, which seemed somewhat expensive to me.

Getting to the French Quarter took about 10 to 15 minutes on foot. But there are plenty of restaurants and other entertainment within walking distance. If you fly in without a car, that's no problem.

Take time to not only visit Bourbon Street, but go down other streets such as Chartres and Decatur. They ahve tons of ... beautiful buildings and more to d than just eat and drink. Don't miss out on taking a cable car to the Garden District. Get off on 1st Street and enjoy the area.

Take a nice walk to Riverwalk. Nice mall area (not alot of stores), but some local finds and if you want upscale t-shirts, this is the place.

My husband and I had a "long weekend getaway" and had a great time in New Orleans. The Intercontinental Hotel was lovely. It ... was super clean. The staff was extremely helpful, especially the concierge. We spent extra money to have a room with a balcony which we never used because it was too hot outside and the view was less than scenic (an office building.)

The hotel was top notch and the waitstaff in the restaurant was courteous and attentive. The rooms were spotless and had one ... of the more comfortable beds I've slept on in a long time. There was a slight delay checking in, but with all the folks coming into New Orleans during this weekend, it was not a major issue.

Special Suites aren't so special
Essence Music Traveler Jul 6, 2009
Booked through Orbitz, but every time I asked about something, was told in a not so pleasant way that since I booked through ... Obitz, I didn't or couldn't have that (i.e - when I was checking out, I requested a receipt that showed I had no charges to the room, but was told that since I booked through Orbitz, my only receipt would come from them - what gives?) Also I booked Club Intercontinental, it was no different from any other room, except it was under the fitness center, so I awoke every morning to the sounds of weights being dropped above my head.

Hotel is conference oriented. Nice clean rooms. Very friendly people at the front desk, was able to get early check in and ... late check out free of charge. A very quiet location. Ten minutes walk to French Quarter. I paid $64 per night including taxes. I found a deal through Orbitz.com. Across the street from hotel is a very nice restaurant LUKE. Food is delicious. Go to Mother's for lunch or breakfast&& interesting experience. Jazz brunch at Commander's Palace is nice.
Traveler type: Couples
Restaurants that I would recommend are: MOTHER'S RESTAURANT IRENE'S CUISINE GALATOIRE'S RESTAURANT NOLA RESTAURANT BAYONA K PAULS LOUISIANA KITCHEN COMMANDER'S PALCE RESTAURANT AUGUST LUKE RESTAURANT Irene's has the nice romantic decor and delicious food, also not that expensive. The best restaurant in New Orleans. Go to Napoleon house for drinks or lunch. Their muffalettas are delicious and drinks not expensive. Try beignets at Café Beignet or Café Du Monde. They are delicious. Public transportation is very unreliable, no time schedules. I had to wait 40 minutes for a bus just to go 15 blocks. Do not buy 3 days passes. It's better to buy one day pass for $5. You can see all neighborhoods that worth seeing in one day. Sometimes you would get faster to some destinations by walking than waiting for a buss or a trolley. This might change with time.

Great old international hotel
golemB Jun 10, 2009
The concierge service was excellent, and the location is extremely convenient for business and sightseeing alike. The only ... two minor complaints I have are the fee for in-room internet service (especially considering the free lobby WiFi didn't work for me) and the brusque waitstaff at the breakfast restaurant. Otherwise, the staff and service are world-class, the rooms, gym, and pool are beautiful, and the location is great. Oh yes, and although I had a balcony, it faced a taller adjacent office building - my room had a terrible view with little natural light. Make sure to request a room with a good view.
