The Hyatt French Quarter is a modern hotel slotted into a 19th century townhouse, emulating the Creole stylings of Bourbon Street in its earth-tone frontage. On-site restaurants offer a smorgasbord of regional fare, from the hickory tastes of the Red Fish Grill to the quick eats at Powdered Sugar; those hankering for something more familiar can go straight through to the Hard Rock Cafe from the hotel. Nurse a bourbon from the casks at the Batch Bar and mingle with other guests at the long sociable tables, or spend a healthier evening swimming the length of the outdoor pool and checking in at the 24-hour gym.

Key facts

  • 254 guestrooms
  • 10 conference and event spaces
  • Outdoor pool
  • Gym
  • 2 restaurants: Powdered Sugar and Red Fish Grill
  • Batch Bar
  • 24-hour room service

Neighborhood
Sitting in the heart of the French Quarter at Canal Street, the oldest neighborhood in New Orleans knows how to party. You'll find the focus of all the famed street music, dance and local eats is Bourbon Street, right next to the hotel; be sure to check out the jazz at Blue Nile while you're here. The ornamental lawns of Jackson Square and the steeples of St Louis Cathedral are within walking distance and, for those in town for a conference, the "Vieux Carre" conveniently borders the city's business district.
Hints and tips
Book a room with a balcony that overlooks Bourbon Street for the best view of the constantly fascinating boulevard.

If you're planning to visit New Orleans during Mardi Gras or the Jazz Festival, a room that faces the hotel's verdant garden courtyard or the atrium can offer a break from the joyful chaos of Bourbon Street.

Awesome location

Given this hotel's prime location and beautiful, modern decoration; it is worth the price! This hotel has 3 entry doors -- one on Dauphine, Iberville, and Canal Street. For Mardi Gras, the multiple doors are great! The parades run right on Canal Street. Bourbon Street is not even a block away! It is really close to the street cars and bus line. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in New Orleans. Everything is within walking distance. Only drawbacks about this place -- bathroom does not have a vent/fan and you share a balcony with your neighbor (if you have a balcony room). There is no Jacuzzi, but there is a pool and awesome gym! The gym has all new equipment -- they even supply towels, water, and headphones! And Red Fish Grill is connected to the hotel lobby.

A delightful stay.

Despite the nearness to Bourbon Street, and the crowds in town for Jazz Fest, our second floor room was so comfortable and quiet! Our doors opened to an interior court, and our concern about loud parties gathering around the lovely tables and plants was nullified when we noticed the sign saying "quiet time from 9pm to 9am". Our five nights were all peaceful. Our only hesitation was that no free morning coffee was offered. However the Powdered Sugar coffee shop within the hotel had really quality offerings, and all the staff was exceptional. In addition, the Red Fish restaurant also located in the building was very convenient.

Perfect Location

The location of this hotel was ideal. The room was amazing. Unfortunately, the staff didn't treat my group very well, whether it was because of our age or the fact that it was hectic due to Mardi Gras. Overall, good experience. Definitely worth it.

poor customer service

When we booked this hotel it wa another name. And it was a suite. Once it changed over to hyatt no longer suites. They did not tell us that. Over charged and management was very rude. Will be writing the ceo of this company. Not a happy camper.

French Quarter

The hotel was great. The only two hiccups were: with 4 people in our room, we had only one trash can (it would've been better with one in the bathroom and one for the rest of the room); and the front desk almost never answered the phone when we called, and if they did, they would put us on hold indefinitely.... or just flat hang up on us. Not very good customer service in that regard. In person, they were great.

Fabulous Fifty

Ten of us (2 in each room) stayed at the Chateau Burbon for a fiftieth birthday celebration. The rooms were clean, the beds very comfortable, and the showers good. With the french doors open to the courtyard balcony, there was a nice breeze flowing through. The courtyards were inviting and cleaned every morning. The food and staff at the Red Fish Grill were awesome. The only reason I didn't rate the hotel staff a 5 was the girl at the front desk. No smile, didn't give a warm, friendly feeling. She accommodated but seemed put out to do so. All other staff were excellent and very accommodating. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would definitely stay again.

My yearly vaction to the BIG EASY

I had a lovely experience staying at the Chateau Burbon- Wyndham. The rooms were clean and the staff was GREAT!!! Especially the bartender by the pool. The location of the hotel was a key factor in my selection. It was centered in the middle of all the activities. I would recommend this hotel and I plan on staying there again next year. Hope the bartender is still there !!!!

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

Try walking to events, its not that far. Some of the cab drivers are not honest, charged different prices to get to the same venues.
