Great Hotel for the price
Pats Fan Dec 2, 2009
Hotel was nice. Great location to Bourbon Street which is one block away. Very close to Cafe Du Monde, within walking ... distance to Superdome. Went for the Saints/Pats game and had a great time! Only concerns were that the pool is VERY small and NO hot tub. Also the restaurant at the hotel was poor. The waitress staff acted "spacey", forgot our appetizers, and then forgot our salads, dinner was a little cold, and when the bill came we were double charged for desserts. They didn't do anything to accommodate for their mistakes. So I don't recommend the restaurant downstairs. Also in the rooms you need to be careful, they advertise they have a mini bar stocked with sodas food and other drinks, however if you even touch anything you get charged even if you don't open it. So be careful when traveling with little ones when they go to open doors. Other than that the staff was friendly, helpfull and everything was clean. Would stay here again!

Acme Oyster House is around the corner and worth a short wait in line. The chargrilled oysters are delicious. Everyone loved their sandwiches; several got Peacemakers (po-boys). The bread pudding was also a hit. But have cash if there's a group - they don't do separate checks.

Beautiful Hotel
Twinmom Nov 17, 2009
Absolutely beautiful! You are close to everything you want to see, shopping, restaurants, Bourbon St. etc. The great thing ... is that you don't have to endure the noise that can be extreme on Bourbon St. The staff was very courteous & met our every need. The Carousel Bar is a must see! We'll definately stay here everytime we visit New Orleans!

Fantastic location, wonderful place
Fleur de Lis Nov 2, 2009
My husband and I spent two nights here with four friends so we could show off our hometown over Halloween weekend. Our goal ... was to have a clean, safe place to stay within easy walking distance of the Quarter/Bourbon Street without spending a small fortune. The Monteleone knocked the ball out of the park - everyone loved the hotel. The location was perfect (only one block from a busy spot on Bourbon and close to all the key tourist locations in the Quarter). There were many comments from both men and women as to how clean the rooms were, as well as how nice the furnishings and accomodations were. It's a historic hotel and very well maintained and beautifully updated. I stayed here before about 15 years ago with my family (2 adults, 3 children aged 17 to 10) and we loved the location and facilities then, too. Our group this weekend was looking for the New Orleans experience that included partying late on Bourbon as well as eating good food and exploring the Quarter; great spot to stay. Families looking for a slightly different experience (Aquarium, museums, Cathedral, shopping) should also find this a great home base for the trip. There was one little snag that was fixed without hassle; our reservation got slightly garbled after I asked to adjust the name on the reservation (wanted someone else to be able to check in before I got there), [...] - we ended up with everything we had been guaranteed and everything we had hoped would be available (got adjoining rooms). I have traveled quite a bit domestically and internationally and I very highly recommend this hotel. It added to our experience.

Not Smoke Free Hotel
Francie Oct 12, 2009
Hotel was clean, staff friendly, location good. Advised staff at desk of smoking in room adjacent to ours. Smoking filled ... hall and our room - hotel did nothing (to our knowledge) to stop this througout our stay (Fri-Sun). We were offered another room. THIS would have been disruptive for us AND would have done nothing to stop the smoking in the hotel. Monteleone is NOT a smoke free hotel as advertised - and disappointing for us, Louisiana native and guest there for many decades.

We came to New Orleans for our 10 year anniversary. This was perfect. We wanted some place that we could eat and drink and ... the Monteleone was in a perfect location. Do not waste your time or money on Galatoire's. It's consistently on the lists of New Orlean's best but we could never figure out why. The decor is outdated and uncomfortable (the chairs looked the old ones from the Pizza Huts of the 70s!) and the food was absolutely the worst we've had in NOLA - bland and boring. AVOID THIS PLACE. It was such a disappointment. I'm sure this place was really something back in the day, but if you truly enjoy great food, you will be happier heading almost anyplace else in the city for a nice dinner.
--LovesToEat, Houston, TX Aug 10, 2009
Start in the Quarter, do your obligatory time on Bourbon St, then move on to Frechman St. where the pace is a little slower, the live music is much better and the drinks are just as good.
