Grand Dame of the French Quarter central to area attractions
In 1886, Italian shoemaker Antonio Monteleone bought the 14-room Commercial Hotel, starting a tradition of hospitality that continues at the Monteleone to this day. The vibe throughout is retro-European, from the guest rooms' rich fabrics and marble bathrooms to the liveried doormen and distinctive Baroque façade. With its central location in the French Quarter, a few blocks from Canal Street, Jackson Square and the River Walk, the luxury Hotel Monteleone is an ideal home base for exploring the Crescent City in style.Highlights
- The lobby has crystal chandeliers, acres of marble and a grand European vibe
- A serene heated rooftop pool with breathtaking views of the downtown New Orleans skyline
- 24/7 rooftop fitness center offers panoramic views of the Mississippi River and the French Quarter
- Boutique Spa Aria uses Pevonia Botanica organic skin care products
Rooms
A renovation updated all 600 rooms and 55 suites down to marble floors, granite countertop, HD flat screens, in room fridges and high-speed Internet (fees apply). Pets are welcome (call for details) with a mat with water and food bowls, a bag of treats, and brochure of dog-friendly places in the city.
Features
In a city of great watering holes, Hotel Monteleone's Carousel Bar still manages to stand out from the crowd. The intricately carved bar, with its circus motif and cast of local characters, is iconic New Orleans. It was immortalized in the writings of Ernest Hemingway among others and hosts live piano music Wednesday through Saturday. The Hunt Room Grill provides a comfortable steakhouse atmosphere and an excellent wine list.

Great hotel and location
The hotel was great: very well-kept for a historic property, clean, friendly. The location is very central for walking to different parts of the city. The gym is not huge but I never had to wait and the rooftop location offers great views.

Very enjoyable stay
Travelled to meet with friends. Didn't stay in hotel much, but it was wonderful. Had this been a trip involving more time in the room, the room would have been found to be small in size.

Money-saving tip:
Not Applicable
New Orleans can be best appreciated when there is not a festival. Hotels will be less expensive;lines shorter at restaurants, etc. It is wild enough on any given weekend, or weekday for that matter!

Great Location
The location of the hotel is unbeatable. There were endless dining choices all within a few blocks. The hotel was one block from Bourbon St. and a short walk (4 or 5 blocks) to Jackson Square, the river and Harrah's Casino. The room was an interior room with no windows and was very quiet at night. I have stayed in other hotels nearby and could hear the noise from Bourbon St. even though I was on the 12th floor and not directly on Bourbon St.

Great package!
One of the top hotels in an ideal location at a very reasonable price. The service was very good! My only complaint was that the lobby was freezing, but I think they crank the AC to enhance the luxury feel.

Excellent location and luxurious
The hotel is absutely amazing. First-class accomodations and it is in a great location. The pool is a little small forthe size of the hotel but it has A breathtaking view of the city with a convenient bar and restaurant. The service is absolutely great! They even offer a shuttle service to the Airport or have cab service for a flat rate. Definitely worth it.

One of my favorites in New Orleans
New Orleans is, for me, a unique, romantic city, full of history, culture, charm and pretty much anything else you may be looking for. When I travel I like to stay in a hotel that reflects the place I'm visiting and the Monteleone does that for me in New Orleans. It's an elegant hotel, located in the City's original settlement, the French Quarter. The hotel staff is efficient and friendly, rooms are nicely appointed, and you get the sense of being in a place steeped in history while having all of today's conveniences at your fingertips. I've recommended the Monteleone and, when it was open the Ponchartrain, for the past twenty years and I've never had someone tell me I made a poor recommendation. I think that says it all.

You're only a few blocks away from K-Paul's, my favorite New Orleans restaurant, when you stay at the Monteleone. Outstanding. I go every time I visit the city.

Top notch service in French Quarter
Top notch service and decor with best in the French Quarter location. Fabulous additional amenities like the unique carousel bar and rooftop pool. Staff could not do enough to make the trip flawless including printing my boarding passes at the front desk since the guest computer/printer was being used. Highly recommended. The smell of fresh flowers as you enter the lobby is only the start of this delightful experience. (Note that I did not try the restaurants so that portion is untested from this traveler.)
