A time-honored New Orleans landmark, this French Quarter hotel has been owned and operated by five generations of the Monteleone family since 1886. It has appeared in movies, television and literary works. Keurig coffee makers, plush robes, marble and granite bathrooms, a heated rooftop pool, and a state-of-the-art fitness center are just some of the luxurious amenities in the Hotel Monteleone. Literary-themed suites pay homage to famous authors like Ernest Hemingway and Tennessee Williams, who visited and even wrote about the place. These well-appointed suites have plush furniture, parlors that can accommodate 15 to 70 people, and balconies with views of the Mississippi River and French Quarter.

As Advertised

Wanted a historic hotel on or near Bourbon Street and the Monteleon fit the bill. A bit expensive but for a 1-night stay was both convenient and beautiful.

Right in the Middle of Things!

Hotel Monteleone is for anyone who wants to be right in the middle of the comings and goings in New Orleans' French Quarter. The ambience on the streets of the Quarter is like that of no other city, and to be able to find good food, good music, and good people watching within a few blocks of our comfortable rooms was great, The staff, from the check-in desk to the concierge to the doorman - all were very helpful in making my stay memorable.

Perfect French Quarter location

Great hotel if you want to be right in the mix. Rooms are fine but some are smaller than others. The one my wife and I stayed in was pretty cramped. Bar and lounge area is a great place to relax at the end of the day. Pool on the other hand was pretty small for a hotel with that many rooms/guests.

Overnight Getaway

The hotel was perfectly located in the French Quarter. The staff was pleasant and accomodating. Everything was clean and well presented, The only issue we had was the loud sound when the toilet flushed each time. Other than that we would gladly visit the hotel again.

Historic Hotel in the French Quarter

Even during the madness of Mardi Gras this hotel was a haven to return to every time we needed a break. The room was on the small side but the bathroom was larger and more modern than you would expect in a 125 year old hotel. Don't miss the Carousel Bar off the lobby- its not you that's spinning in circles, it's the bar!

Napoleon House for Muffalettas are much better than Maspero's or Central Grocery where all the long lines are.

Classic New Orleans

You won't find a run of the mill chain with this hotel. Just classic New Orleans, very classy, friendly, and with a unique touch. From the friendly and helpful staff to the joyful atmosphere (thanks to the great bartenders!) at the Carousel Bar, the Monteleone is beloved by locals (like me!) and you'll find no other hotel will simply do after you stay here. Safe, quiet (for the Quarter), yet centrally located for great dining, shopping, and attractions, the Monteleone is simply the best.

Forgot something? Walgreen's is across the street and well-stocked. Dragging from a long day or a long flight? Order room service coffee - as delicious as any coffee house.

Hotel Monteleone

I was somewhat disappointed with the room. For the hotel to be classified as a 4 or 5 star hotel, the only special things were the valet, doorman and granite floors and counters in the bathroom. I expected more and was disappointed. I have stayed in other hotels with more amenities that were rated less. Sorry, just not what I call 4/5 star and wouldn't spend that kind of money for that hotel again. I think I could find a better deal with a nicer hotel. Overall, the place is nice, but I just don't think it was worth the added expense. The extra money was for the granite floors and doorman, but had to pay to park so the valet was not necessarily a perk of the hotel.

The hotel is in a good location, not right on the area of all the noise but very close walk to have fun. Also close to the riverwalk.
