Grand Dame of the French Quarter central to area attractions
In 1886, Italian shoemaker Antonio Monteleone bought the 14-room Commercial Hotel, starting a tradition of hospitality that continues at the Monteleone to this day. The vibe throughout is retro-European, from the guest rooms' rich fabrics and marble bathrooms to the liveried doormen and distinctive Baroque façade. With its central location in the French Quarter, a few blocks from Canal Street, Jackson Square and the River Walk, the luxury Hotel Monteleone is an ideal home base for exploring the Crescent City in style.Highlights
- The lobby has crystal chandeliers, acres of marble and a grand European vibe
- A serene heated rooftop pool with breathtaking views of the downtown New Orleans skyline
- 24/7 rooftop fitness center offers panoramic views of the Mississippi River and the French Quarter
- Boutique Spa Aria uses Pevonia Botanica organic skin care products
Rooms
A renovation updated all 600 rooms and 55 suites down to marble floors, granite countertop, HD flat screens, in room fridges and high-speed Internet (fees apply). Pets are welcome (call for details) with a mat with water and food bowls, a bag of treats, and brochure of dog-friendly places in the city.
Features
In a city of great watering holes, Hotel Monteleone's Carousel Bar still manages to stand out from the crowd. The intricately carved bar, with its circus motif and cast of local characters, is iconic New Orleans. It was immortalized in the writings of Ernest Hemingway among others and hosts live piano music Wednesday through Saturday. The Hunt Room Grill provides a comfortable steakhouse atmosphere and an excellent wine list.

amazing friendly and peaceful
This beautiful historic hotel is in the heart of the French Quarter with plentiful delights in walking distance. The staff was friendly and quick to provide assistance and answer questions. Great food and tour recommendations with a lovely pool and bar area. Room service was delicious and the room was peaceful despite the proximity to Bourbon Street and the number of guests around us. Highly recommended!

Nice in the French Quarter
Very nice Hotel in the French Quarter! One block off Bourbon St. Even one block away you will still hear some revelry, so if you need real quiet visit Des Moines. Rooms are smaller than typical of US hotels, but it is a very old hotel. Lots of New Orleans character, very well maintained. Great Carousel Bar off the lobby. I recommend it for a couple looking to enjoy NOLA.

Fantastic service and location
I will definitely be staying at the Monteleone again. The service was 5 star. The room was a bit small but well-appointed and probably typical of the hotels in the French Quarter. The location (one block over from Bourbon Street) is ideally located to reach all of the sites without all of the noise of the never-ending night life. The Carousel Bar was a great meeting place and the bartenders (especially [...]) were friendly, professional and very helpful with ideas for places to eat and visit.

Absolutely Perfect
Checked in early without any problems. Had rented a wheelchair and it was ready for me. The room was just great and we were delighted that it had a fridge for leftovers. But the best part was we never had a wait for the elevators considering that we were on the ninth floor. Just a delightful place and loved the carousel bar.

Monteleone serves pre chewed food
NOT a 4 star hotel. The rooms are tiny. I had to turn sideways to get around the bed and I am 6'2, 190 pounds. The tv was practically over the bed. There were no options for other rooms. I had called early to request early check in but the room wasn't avaliable. They took our number but didn't write it down correctly so we never received a call to say our room was ready. We didn't check in till 6 and then had to scramble to get to our dinner on time. The mini fridge that they claim is in each room, isn't. Their story is that the entire hotel was struck by lightning and the mini fridges were all fried. This is happened over the summer and hasn't been fixed yet. What was left in the room is a shell with wires hanging down. Didn't look good. The safe in the room didn't work. They had to send someone up to fix it. This was our first hour in the hotel. Not a nice way to begin a trip. Then later that night, we ordered room service and the condiments had already been used. The mayo had a couple of knife slashes in it that were laced with ketchup. Yuck, no thanks. We checked out after one night moving to the LOEWS. Much better, the Loews is a four star hotel. I would stay here even over the Windsor Court. A first rate room at the same price as the Monteleone. The location is good but you are never out of the hustle and bustle. Stay a short walk out of the French Quarter and it makes your stay much better.

Great Hotel For A Romantic Night
We normally go to a much cheaper hotel when we go to Nola, but i decided to make it a special trip and spend the extra money. Worth every penny. $129 @ the Monteleone=great deal. Carousel bar was fun. They even let us check into our room earlier than the scheduled time.

If you want to hang at a locals bar, go to the Erin Rose & the Boondock Saint. Friendly people. Both are cheap dive bars but with a lot of charector.

Beautiful Hotel
The Hotel Monteleone was one of the nicest hotels I have ever visited. The Carousel Bar was unique and a great draw for outsiders as well as guests staying at the hotel. The staff (doormen) were always helpful and guided us towards great sites and hotspots in the city. The room was spacious and comfortable and room service was timely and friendly. When I return to New Orleans, The Monteleone will be my first choice for accommodations.

Good Times
The hotel was beautiful. The room was somewhat small, but was very nice. All the staff were extremely accommodating. The heated pool on the roof was awesome. The location was paramount to everything in the French Quarter. It was an easy walk to almost any destination. My only complaint was about the Internet access. I paid for three days worth and had some connectivity issues and had to talk to IT. They were nice enough to refund two days usage.
