Grand Dame of the French Quarter central to area attractions
In 1886, Italian shoemaker Antonio Monteleone bought the 14-room Commercial Hotel, starting a tradition of hospitality that continues at the Monteleone to this day. The vibe throughout is retro-European, from the guest rooms' rich fabrics and marble bathrooms to the liveried doormen and distinctive Baroque façade. With its central location in the French Quarter, a few blocks from Canal Street, Jackson Square and the River Walk, the luxury Hotel Monteleone is an ideal home base for exploring the Crescent City in style.Highlights
- The lobby has crystal chandeliers, acres of marble and a grand European vibe
- A serene heated rooftop pool with breathtaking views of the downtown New Orleans skyline
- 24/7 rooftop fitness center offers panoramic views of the Mississippi River and the French Quarter
- Boutique Spa Aria uses Pevonia Botanica organic skin care products
Rooms
A renovation updated all 600 rooms and 55 suites down to marble floors, granite countertop, HD flat screens, in room fridges and high-speed Internet (fees apply). Pets are welcome (call for details) with a mat with water and food bowls, a bag of treats, and brochure of dog-friendly places in the city.
Features
In a city of great watering holes, Hotel Monteleone's Carousel Bar still manages to stand out from the crowd. The intricately carved bar, with its circus motif and cast of local characters, is iconic New Orleans. It was immortalized in the writings of Ernest Hemingway among others and hosts live piano music Wednesday through Saturday. The Hunt Room Grill provides a comfortable steakhouse atmosphere and an excellent wine list.

Overnight Getaway
The hotel was perfectly located in the French Quarter. The staff was pleasant and accomodating. Everything was clean and well presented, The only issue we had was the loud sound when the toilet flushed each time. Other than that we would gladly visit the hotel again.

Historic Hotel in the French Quarter
Even during the madness of Mardi Gras this hotel was a haven to return to every time we needed a break. The room was on the small side but the bathroom was larger and more modern than you would expect in a 125 year old hotel. Don't miss the Carousel Bar off the lobby- its not you that's spinning in circles, it's the bar!

Classic New Orleans
You won't find a run of the mill chain with this hotel. Just classic New Orleans, very classy, friendly, and with a unique touch. From the friendly and helpful staff to the joyful atmosphere (thanks to the great bartenders!) at the Carousel Bar, the Monteleone is beloved by locals (like me!) and you'll find no other hotel will simply do after you stay here. Safe, quiet (for the Quarter), yet centrally located for great dining, shopping, and attractions, the Monteleone is simply the best.

Forgot something? Walgreen's is across the street and well-stocked. Dragging from a long day or a long flight? Order room service coffee - as delicious as any coffee house.

Hotel Monteleone
I was somewhat disappointed with the room. For the hotel to be classified as a 4 or 5 star hotel, the only special things were the valet, doorman and granite floors and counters in the bathroom. I expected more and was disappointed. I have stayed in other hotels with more amenities that were rated less. Sorry, just not what I call 4/5 star and wouldn't spend that kind of money for that hotel again. I think I could find a better deal with a nicer hotel. Overall, the place is nice, but I just don't think it was worth the added expense. The extra money was for the granite floors and doorman, but had to pay to park so the valet was not necessarily a perk of the hotel.

Great value but watch construction!
For the location, price, and room it was a good value. Just don't let them put you on the 3rd floor! Construction starts weekdays promptly at 7:30am. Loud demo work woke me up when I was dying for some sleep after a night out. Staff is aware of this problem but still book people there to make a buck. Such a shame...won't do anything about it either except switch your room if you ask. Had to pack up and move with 1 day left in our stay.

Delightful stay
We spent just one night at the close of a Caribbean cruise. Because we arrived mid-morning from our cruise ship, we were required to check our luggage and wait for 3 hours before our room was ready. The time was spend profitably walking around the French Quarter which was loaded with football fans awaiting the NFL game about to commence. When we finally entered our room, we found it nicely redecorated with a particularly fine re-model of the bath. Although a bit crowded the room was quite comfortable with a king size bed and a modern LCD TV. The staff was very accommodating when we inadvertently mis-locked the small safe. We would certainly stay at the Monteleone again.
