Decent place to stay

Location is a 10 minute drive from Bourbon Street, but prices are a bit cheaper and there's free street parking. I wouldn't recommend the $30 valet parking because there are free/cheaper options available.

Good Stay

The hotel is just fine...I was a little put off by how long the walk was from the hotel to the Quarter...that should be in the hotel description....otherwise a very comfortable, clean room

Good value, good staff, great stay for the money.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel was clean and comfortable, the amenities were decent, a sitting area out back with couches and fountains was very nice. The only negative was the rather industrial location; the neighborhood seemed a little shabby. But for convenience to the convention center and value for the price I don't think you could beat it. I would definitely stay here again.

Good jazz Fest hotel

Great location - price is in line with most business type hotels. Nothing luxurious but the location, price, and ease of downtown parking make it perfect for our families.

Great people, and service

We really enjoyed the hotel. We loved the room, the bed, and the delightful people and great service, the location near many great restraunts and bars. There were lot of positives. We were disappointed that there was no movie-on-demand system. And, the room was overpriced, over 540 for two nights. We did it anyway because we really wanted a hotel with a hot tub. So, in the off season when the prices are better, I would return, its a great place close to lots of fun things to do!! But, not really a great value for the price they charged.

pros and cons

The HGI had awesome, friendly, and helpful staff. The location was good for our purposes: very close to the convention center, and within walking distance to the French Quarter for nights out, and the Garden District for some exploring during the day. The cookies, coffee, and lemonade in the lobby were also a nice touch. However, the cleanliness of the room was an issue: upon arriving, there was a toenail clipping on the bathroom floor, and it was still there a day (and a cleaning) later, until I closed my eyes and picked it up with a tissue. There was also a gross orange smear on the shower curtain, and what looked like green snot dried on one of the towels. Luckily, these gross elements don't get to me (too) much, and I didn't complain at the front desk because everyone was so darn nice. However, I'm a little concerned about what I didn't see in the room, because I'm sure there was other stuff lurking. Also, it would have been nice to have a complimentary breakfast buffet...

Walking around the city, in and of itself, is entertaining, whether at night or during the day.
