Wonderful Experience
The hotel is situated a couple of short blocks from Jackson Square, many fine restaurants, the Mississippi River and the Steamboat as well as the French Market. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. While the hotel may be older, the ambiance is undeniable!

2010 Essence Festival
We stayed here while we attended the 2010 Essence Festival. The hotel was clean, relatively quiet, nicely located and had a great staff. This was our second trip in a little over a month and although this was a smaller, older hotel, our stay was great. I only wish they still had the pool open that's on the website instead it being covered up. We weren't too far from most of what we wanted to do and could easily access both the streetcar and taxi service to get to the rest of the places we wanted to go. Thanks for helping make it a really good trip.

Pierre Maspero's is a great place to dine. The service is great and the building has a lot of history. The staff is also very helpful for information on things to do and see. Have a Kir Royale before your meal to aid digestion, ask for Crystal for great service!

Our mini vacation!!
We visited the WWII Museum and did some shopping in the area and attended a concert at the UNO Lakefront Arena on Saturday night.Found several great little restaurants to eat at. Although we enjoyed the location of the hotel, we found the room to be not as clean as it should have been. But overall we had a great weekend.

Uhmmm, No.
Well in advance, we had requested a room with handicap accomodations. When I asked the desk clerk about it, I knew right off we were going to have a problem. Her response was simply that there was an elevator---and nodded towards somewhere. The room we were actually assigned was the farthest possible away from the lobby. On the way there we did however get a birds eye view of filthy wood work and door frames, a barely ventilated elevator without AC and badly stained carpet, and something I have never encountered before, a windowless room off the stairwell without even a single picture on the wall. If I had been in a wheelchair, I would never have gotten to it. Outlet covers also appeared to be a luxury item that was not included with the room. The room itself did appear to be considerably cleaner than the hotel main, and beds were fine. The furniture was newer and much in keeping with the French style. This was not my first stay in NO, but it will definitely be my last at this hotel. It was a Thursday night, and not a crowded weekend, as if that should have made any difference. Overall, this was one of the more negative hotel experiences I have ever had, and that's saying alot. The picture on their main page has to be an artists rendition. It's idealized, and bares no resemblance that I saw to reality.

I was delighted with the room, the location, and the assistance by the staff with answering questions. It reminds me of Paris, only far less costly!
