Hotel needs help
In the first room we were put in on the 3rd floor, the tv did not work. They moved us to another room on the ground floor. There was not adequate lighting from the front desk to the room. The carpet and upholstery on the chair was dirty and stained. When we woke up each morning, we were on the bare mattress because there was no fitted sheet on the bed. We had to wait about 30 minutes the first time that we ask to have our vehicle brought around for us. They morning that we left, my husband called in advance to have the vehicle brought to the front, they forgot to call for it. One of the concierges was very prompt, but the other would rather sit or talk on his cell phone. Maybe after the renovation is complete, it will be a nicer place to stay. The location is a great place.

Great location
Liked the old style inn atmosphere but the rooms were very small, carpets were stained/nasty, bath room shower knob was falling off. If your staying there to party and just sleep thats fine but other than that an older couple will find it uncomfortable. The hotel had construction going on and was very noisy. Also the streets out front were being repaved. This was not disclosed prior to booking and should have been. B/C

Waiting for the renovations to be finished. Could be an excellent place to stay with the right updating. Leave some of the New Orleans charm but add more modern conveniences.

Experience with hotel
The staff were great. Location great. Loved the old style building. Only thing negative was the bathroom tub needed to be updated. We did not know how to use the shower. Once we inquired that we thought it was broke, the maintence man came right up to show us how to work. Other than that I would stay there again.

Cool and Haunted
I didn't know when I booked it but this hotel is one of the oldest in New Orleans and is listed on every haunted hotel list. I didn't experience any haunting phenomenon but I loved the fee of it - sort of a creepy, old and very New Orleans vibe. I liked it, the people were nice and it's only a few minute walk from Jackson Square and Bourbon Street. I'd stay there again for sure.

great location, hotel under renovation
the hotel will be great again. . .but right now, it seems they're hanging on during their renovation. my deluxe room was small but nice. however, the room next door was undergoing renovation. i'd stay there again but only if the price stays discounted for the area like it was during my stay.

LOVED OUR STAY!!
After reading some really horrible reviews on a travel website, I was extremely nervous about our stay here. I actually considered changing hotels even before getting to New Orleans. So glad we didn't! Our room was AWESOME!! Room 200. View of Decateur, clean bathroom, clean bathtub, A/C=100% cold, close to lobby. Room 200 was a small room, but worth EVERY penny. I would totally stay there again. We have NO complaints at all! On a side note, I wonder if the people who gave such horrible reviews for this hotel don't know what New Orleans is all about. The French Market Inn is exactly what you want if you want a NOLA experience. Room 200 was great! We will stay there again. There is some construction going on in the hotel, but it didn't even phase us. It was in a totally different part of the hotel than where we were.

Coop's on Decateur is great local food-jambalaya, creole, red beans and rice, fried chicken. Try the "taste plate." Johnny's (around the corner) has great food too-breakfast foods, po-boy sandwiches.
