Brush up on your New Orleans history at this historic inn. French Market Inn was built in the 1800s for Baron and Baroness Joseph Xavier de Pontalba, and it was the government house when Louisiana was still a French colony. Today's budget-minded tourists can appreciate the proximity to the party without paying Bourbon Street prices. The hotel's staff is eager to make reservations and help with vacation planning.

Rooms

The 127 guest rooms surround a courtyard. Rooms are individually decorated, some with antiques, brass beds and exposed brick walls.  Each room features basic conveniences, such as a hair dryer, iron and ironing board, cable TV and a coffee maker.

Property features

French Market Inn has no food service, but it is steps from the bustling French Market. Nearby Marie Laveau's Voodoo Bar is a fun, moodily lit spot for a drink. The hotel's courtyard makes for a quiet picnic location.

Ok

Nice hotel in a good location. My room had no windows, which was fine since i really didn't spend that much time there. However, it seemed like they did work in the room and never cleaned up. There was a trail of dirt that went along most of the walls. Also, the decorative pillows that they put on the bed were dirty and left a line of what I would call sand along the sheets at the head of the bed. That being said, I would consider staying here again. I have stayed in worse and better in NOLA, but good service, price (may vary) and location.

Great place to stay

Great location. Walking distance to Jackson Square, Bourbon Street, Trolley, Canal Street. Took a cab from Frenchman St, but only because it was very late at night. Wonderful staff.

Awesome family trip

The French Market Inn was a last minute find. The staff went above and beyond with helping us, from checking in to pointing us to places that we might like go. Everyone from the desk clerks, the door man, the housekeeping staff were great. They were like old friends that you haven't seen in awhile. The Inn is in a great location to everything in the French Quarter. We parked the car when we arrived and didn't need it til we checked out. We were in walking distance to everything!

great place

Location couldn't be better. Room was clean, comfortable, and very quiet. No fridge or microwave, but the none was promised. Loved the pleasant courtyard in the center of the hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Awesome location, that's about it.

We started off being blindsided about parking fees, valet is $28/day but if you get there during the week you can park across the street for $27/day and avoid their weekend rates. Then, the bellboys left us as we were checking in and we had to load our own bags onto the cart and then search the hotel for our room, which wouldn't have been so bad if the hotel didn't have such a confusing layout for someone who's never been there. Then, I asked the lady at the front desk if she could arrange a cab for us, after taking all our info she told me to go talk to the bellboy. Ok, why not tell me that from the beginning? So it's a different guy from when we got abandoned at check-in and I ask if he could arrange a cab, so he says yes and walks out into the middle of the street and starts trying to flag one down. It's starting to rain, we are dressed to go to a wedding, we are paying hundreds of dollars a night for this hotel, from what we gather the bellmen don't do anything besides give the false advertisement of service, and after about 2 minutes, literally 2 minutes of trying to get a cab, he comes back inside and tells us to walk down the street for a few blocks and get our own cab! I immediately go to the front desk and tell them what's going on and they send someone else out to start flagging them down. I understand cabs don't take calls in the French Quarter, but if you're a hotel that promises that kind of service, don't tell your paying customers to walk out in the rain dressed for a wedding because you don't feel likearranging a cab, or helping carry our bags and showing us where our room is. The only reason I would recommend this hotel is because of the location, but for the price, you can find a lot better service and better quality rooms than here.

Fantastic French Quarter hotel at a very reasonable price. Perfect location on Decatur St. and the courtyard rooms were really quiet at night. The rooms themselves were clean and comfortable and had everything you needed with possible exception of fridge and microwave. The staff was incredibly helpful. Heard some things about parking but I don't drive. Hope to stay here again next year.

Great hotel in a nice location

We came to New Orleans for a long weekend. This hotel is very well located, right in the French quarter. The staff was very friendly, the room was clean and located in the back of the hotel in a quiet area ( we had to go through a lovely patio to access our room). The only minus point is that the room was not very well insulated in terms of noise (we could sometimes hear the neighbors walking around).

Short trip to the quarter

My partner and I stayed for two nights and had a great time in the city and at the hotel. The room (and entire hotel) was clean, inviting, and very comfortable for us and the location was perfect. Would stay again!
