Our short stay in New Orleans

The hotel is in the French Quarter & the price is good considering that. The rooms are small and dirty. The wall safe in the room was destroyed. It was very noisy there. The staff at the desk were very nice but very slow. They did their best. The dining area/bar was under construction and unusable. If you are looking to save money and be in the French Quarter this is a good place. If you're looking for a clean, comfortable room with amenities go some where else.

Bring water with you as it isn't always easy to find and costs a lot when you do find it. All drinks are very expensive. $2+ for water or soda

Chateau Dupre

The photos must have been photoshopped. The hotel is very old. The beds are lumpy, the bathrooms are tiny, the fixtures in disrepair and the place overall is a bit dingy. Staff was helpful, however, I expected a three star hotel considering the price.

Its just ok

The hotel was fine. The service at the front desk was pretty bad though. Well, there was a girl that was good. During the day. Then at night the guy behind the counter was not friendly or helpfull.

Dark, dingy and musty

Great town! This hotel IS close to casino and walking distance to main attractions including Bourbon Street but should have stayed up the street at one of the chains! The lid to the toilet did not stay up, the handle to the tub faucet fell off, and absolutely no counter space for toiletries. Hotel charged additional fee for "communications"? Parking ramp was right outside window of our room, noisy!!! Would definitely not recommend!

Great for a short visit

The Chateau Dupre overall was a very quaint and quiet hotel to stay in for 2 days. The location was perfect and was within walking distance to restaurants and other hotels in the area, making it very easy to get around for my business purposes. The room itself was well ventilated, and the bed was comfortable. I had some trouble getting the shower started, however, and had to call the front desk for instructions, which were not printed on the wall as I was told. My belongings were removed from the room, only to be re-checked in to the same room after this major inconvenience.

Great location

We were allowed to check-in early which was really great. Breakfast was included but consisted of store bought doughnuts and sliced melon with coffee. The bathroom was separate but did not have a tub only a shower stall with no light.

Adequate facility

This hotel appears to have been adapted into a very old manufacturing facility. As such the painted brick walls were rough and the roonm while adequate lacked any sort of warmth. The lighting was far from acceptable. There was an entry ceiling light and two 60 watt lamps, one floor lamp and one bedside with a shade with a burn nmark on it. The staff we met were quite pleasant and helpful and the room generally clean though the batroom could do with a bit more effort since it showed dirt along the tiles. Were we to return I'd try anotherlocation. Located in the French Quarter it was convenient to the festive attractions.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

A tour by streetcar was most interesting. Fare for seniors just $.40 and the cafe at the end of the Garden line was worth a stop for coffee and a muffin.

Poorly Managed

Although the location and price were excellent for New Orleans' French Quarter hotel, the staff was not trained well and all seemed to be a few bricks shy of a load. Since I have been in the hospitality industry for over 20 years, I know that this is a lack of training. The property is in the process of rehab and had brand new bathroom fixtures which was nice. The blanket had holes (burn holes to be exact), the continental breakfast was a joke and the food for purchase was nothing to right home about. The location was excellent but would have preferred someplace that felt like we were welcome. The MANDATORY phone and safe charges are just a scam. Couldn't even find the safe in the room!!!! For 2 ladies staying in a room, the zero washclothes and the 1 bath towel didn't quite make it. Friends in another room lost an item and were treated disrespectfully when the staff was asked about the lost and found. Not consumer friendly!

Great Location, Faded Glory

I've stayed at this hotel before and know what to expect, great location, courteous staff amid the faded glory of an antebellum hotel. It works for the price.

Mardi Gra stay

The rooms are small but adequate for the true amount of time spent there. I question the extra charge for the phone/internet connection. Especially when the 4th floor had little to no signal to the wireless net work of the hotel, but good connection could be made from a neighboring business. The phone never being used? charged ??
