Great location & price

I live close to New Orleans, but I wanted to celebrate my Birthday and not have to worry about driving back. This was a great place to crash for the night. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is great and the price was right. I've read others say it was dingy and outdated, but hey, it's an authentic New Orleans hotel...gotta appreciate its history!

Good spot bad everything else.

The hotel clerk took 45 minutes to confirm reservation. The room was small and the beds were horrible. The motel charges for phone use and internet whether you use it or not. I will never stay at this motel ever again.

Pleasant Place, Friendly Staff, Cozy and

Rehabbed 19th-century building, well-maintained modest-sized room, right at edge of French quarter without being in the middle of it. Staff couldn't be better! Despite the good location, there were still some noisy party-makers passing by every now and then; esp. cars with ugly wall-shaking bass at 2-3am for 2 of the 5 nights there. Not the hotel's fault.

Our short stay in New Orleans

The hotel is in the French Quarter & the price is good considering that. The rooms are small and dirty. The wall safe in the room was destroyed. It was very noisy there. The staff at the desk were very nice but very slow. They did their best. The dining area/bar was under construction and unusable. If you are looking to save money and be in the French Quarter this is a good place. If you're looking for a clean, comfortable room with amenities go some where else.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

Bring water with you as it isn't always easy to find and costs a lot when you do find it. All drinks are very expensive. $2+ for water or soda

Cheap place to crash - don't expect much

This place was a no-frills smelly old decrepid falling apart dive. The pictures are very, very misleading. BUT, the mattress was tolerable, it was as clean as it could be, given its condition, and it was within the French Quarter. We stuck it out for one night. If you can afford a few more dollars, and you don't like staying in a smelly old falling apart dive where you fear the floor may give out beneath you, you'd be happier staying at the Hilton just on the other side of Harrah's Casino. It's worlds apart from any of the hotels inside the French Quarter and it's only a couple of blocks further - still within walking distance.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

The absolute best Red Beans & Rice in all of N'awlins can be found at a small bistro across the street from the French Market called Louisana Pizza Kitchen. Everything we had there was excellent. Avoid Sammy's Restaurant on Bourbon! We all (4 of us) ordered very inexpensive dishes, but were a la carte nickel & dimed to death for a total bill of $92.00. For the best oysters on the half and the best bucket of seafood, go to Poppy's Crazy Lobster in River Walk. Absolutely spledid!

Chateau Dupre

The photos must have been photoshopped. The hotel is very old. The beds are lumpy, the bathrooms are tiny, the fixtures in disrepair and the place overall is a bit dingy. Staff was helpful, however, I expected a three star hotel considering the price.

Its just ok

The hotel was fine. The service at the front desk was pretty bad though. Well, there was a girl that was good. During the day. Then at night the guy behind the counter was not friendly or helpfull.
