Wonderful upgrades!

I was a little worried that the hotel renovations wouldn't be completed by the time we came to NOLA (May 18th) but I booked it anyone in hopes they would be. I couldn't be more happy that I did!! We loved this hotel!! The rooms were modern, with gorgeous high ceilings and so comfortable. And the location cannot be beat! Within walking distance of everything you could want to do in the French Quarter. Our only "complaint" (if you can call it that) is that we were unaware that the hotel was now called "The Hyatt French Quarter". We walked up and down the street a few times looking for Chateau Bourbon Wyndham Hotel! The staff is friendly and more than willing to answer any questions you may have. Would not only recommend this hotel to a friend, but would stay there again in a heart beat!

Disappointment

I knew the hotel was being renovated, but...... paint fumes, ladders blocking the elevators, no restaurant or cafe in hotel was sad. Had to call for more towels, tissues and what about nice soaps where were they. Little things, but for the price unacceptable. Hope they improve once the work is done.

Lots of work going on.

I knew before I went there was work going on,but there web-site said the finish date was going to be may 15th. They are way off, looks like atleast 5 more weeks. the room only had 5 t.v. channels and 2 power outlets didnt work.I didnt complain because I was there only to sleep anyway, and the bed was the most comfortable bed I ever slept in.I think in 3 months place will be a knock out.

Construction and front desk lies

We stayed 3 nights. Morning 1: knocking, dragging, carpet removing like sound came from the room upstairs at 7 am till noon. Complained and was told by Moreen, the manager, that there was nothing going on. Morning 2: 7:25 am construction noise started in the room upstairs. Called front desk again and was told again that nothing was going on. The noise was lighter and stopped at 9:30. Went to take a shower, but guess there was not hot water. Moreen said that this was city issue on which they were working on. If it is a city issue what a hotel can do? And does the city warm up the water?! I turned on the TV & messages came up: pool closed, bar closed, lobby has 4 chairs and still in construction. Night 3: still not hot water; fire alarm went off at 1:30 am. I jumped a foot from my bed with my heart pounding what's up. It turns to be FALSE! On the check out day the bill shows up under our door full priced. During the 2 days we received a notice that access of our room was needed for construction. Vale is $34/day and you do not have many other options to park car. The guys are either 4-5 waiting or noone. The hotel restaurant "Red Fish" has oily but tasty food, however it's mega noisy. The hotel seems that will change name to Hyatt, but I doubt that the squeaky floors and the restaurant smell on the 3rd floor in the hallway will go away... as well as the only AC vent in the room beating your face with cold air while you are in bed. The staff overall did their best, except the lies that Moreen was coming up with. She tried to put us in in a quieter room so I do not imagine what the rest of the guests had. The working people of NO are quite sweet and nice.

Under Construction...

It's true that the hotel was under construction; but we definitely felt the construction could have been done in a more sensible manner. Only one entrance was open, and you had to walk down a long corridor to get to the poorly thought out elevator set up. The pool and courtyard were both closed. There was no concierge; that was a galring ommision that can't really be blamed on the construction. The room was large; but there weren't any dressers, and only a handful of hangers. This is also something that can't be blamed on the renovation. The night desk auditors were very nice and helpful. But the daytime desk help was aloof. The bell boys and doormen were there, but didn't seem to want to do anything. No one offered to help move our luggage to our room. When we were leaving for the cab, one bellboy grabbed a suitcase and walked it 15 feet to the cab, where the cab driver loaded it. I gave the bell boy a tip, but it was apparently not enough - he actually looked at it and said "That's it!" That was unbelievably rude, especially given that I really felt his service didn't deserve a tip, and I gave one anyway. So, even though the hotel was under construction, but things could have been done far better by the staff. I doubt I'll ever stay at this place again.

Not what expected for cost

we got a petite suite which was just a big room with a little table and two hard back chairs...not worth the extra money spent. Everyday we got 3 towel and had 4 people...had to request an extra towel every day...even left note and tip w/ housekeeping but had to call. Asked for a hairdryer 3 times then gave up. Hotel was under renovation..ripping out carpet in halls and lobby last 2 days we were there..not cool. Location on other hand was great as was the Bell Staff. I travel every week for business and when spending $600 a day for my family I expect a bit more.

SEC Basketball tourney

We found out the hotel was in a remodeling stage. Our room's A/C was not working properly. The A/C was repaired after two days. The location is close to the french quarters. All in all, the hotel will be nice once the remodeling is done. May stay there again.

Great location, but note construction at hotel

If this hotel was all set up and ready to go it would be a great place to stay. However, there was construction going on at the hotel and the pool is not ready and you can smell paint once you get out of the room. The staff is courteous and very helpful. They did charge my credit card for the stay (even though the entire trip was paid through this site) and I had to contest it. You can walk to almost any place in the quarter and also to the museums and the location can be worth the money itself.
